Welcome to our family home-stay haveli!
Heritage rooms are renovated in Rajasthani style with ensuite western toilets and hot showers.
Experience a traditional Rajasthani breakfast and father's revered chai.
Come and be part of the family
Our 'home stay' is nestled in the heart of Udaipur’s Old City - directly beneath the majestic Royal Palace and within the bustling streets lined with handicrafts stalls and markets.
Our 250 year old heritage house (traditionally known as a 'haveli') is named after 'Kavi Rao Mohan Singh' - my Great Grandfather and the last poet of the Kingdom.
We extend our invitation for our guests to relax and stay in one of our spacious bedrooms - renovated in Rajasthani period style. Each room has a double bed with freshly laundered linen, and is decorated with eclectic handicrafts, antiques and textiles.
All our rooms have a modern western en-suite bathroom and hot shower. Freshly laundered clean towels and new bed linen are available at your request any time during your stay.
Our roof top terrace provides a dynamic panoramic view of the Royal Palace, historic hill forts and the verdant Aravali Hills. The terrace is a magnificent place to experience the nightly sound and light show of the Royal Palace, watch the bustling daily life of the Old City - or simply read a good book and have a drink.
We provide a generous traditional Rajasthani breakfast (or Western breakfast if requested) accompanied with father's locally revered fresh chai. We can also provide a unique experience of traditional Rajasthani home style food - freshly prepared and cooked upon request.
Our family run home stay provides guests an opportunity to become part of our family. Our genuine enthusiasm in making guests happy and providing you with a life long Rajasthani experience distinguishes us from a room in a lifeless hotel.
My family is always delighted to assist and recommend activities around Udaipur - whether its heritage tours of the Old City, food tours, walks, shopping, Royal Palace tours (I am a registered tour guide), general sight seeing, horse riding or bicycling tours. Nothing is too much trouble.
We also provide: internet, air conditioning, cable TV, free parking, breakfast and my father's infamous chai tea upon request.
Guests have access to their room (24 hours), roof top terrace, courtyard and breakfast room.
Interaction with Guests
As much or as little as guests like! We love to interact but also respect guests privacy!
The Royal Palace, the vibrant street life, art shops, tailors, markets - Udaipur is a bustling and unique Rajasthani city full of narrow streets and heritage architecture.
Rickshaws, taxis or 'two feet and a heart beat' (recommended)!
Please no guests in rooms other than those checked-in.
We didn't stay in the end, but it looked lovely.
We stayed at Akshay's Haveli from 26-28 Dec 2014 and absolutely loved the experience. The rooms are actually better than the pictures and have so many interesting articles in each! Askhay has, and continues to, invest a considerable time in setting up his rooms and it clearly shows. Each room is designed with real historical artifacts and each room is designed per one historical era.
Akshay and his family are really warm hosts and are so much fun to talk to! His mother was nice enough to invite us for dinner and completely spoilt us with great Rajisthani food and funny (website hidden). We were made very comfortable by his whole family.
Akshay is also a great guide and knows his city and its history very well. He helped us with our itinerary and shopping and was always eager to be of service. He is an enthusiastic host and it's difficult to not imbibe his love for Udaipur!
I would absolutely recommend staying at Akshay's to anyone visiting Udaipur. Definitely coming back!
If you are going to Udaipur, Akshays haveli is the place to stay at. He is wonderfully friendly and passionate about the property, putting a lot of energy into getting all the details perfect, from designing to assisting the guests with whatever they need. The location could not be better and the view from his terrace is stunning. The place is beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable, equipped with everything you need during your stay.
In countries where I don't speak the language I like to stay with a family in a central location. The Little Garden Guest House was an excellent choice. First I want to say that they have wifi- which is not the case in all airbnbs, so check. From providing transportation information to recommendations on sites to visit, to restaurants, shopping, hiking even yoga; Akshay was a wealth of information. And Tina's cooking was the best I had in India (and I travelled from the east to the far western Indian states. The rooms are tastefully decorated (I think the photo doesn't do them justice) and they provide all the modern conveniences that you don't notice until you don't have. As some one else mentioned, Mr. Rao's chai tea is something to rave about. A charming family who were there for you when you needed them yet you had as much privacy as you wanted. Five stars from me.
Do yourself a favour and book into the Little Guest House! I have travelled extensively all over the world for the past 20 years and I would have to rate my stay here as the most enjoyable and hospitable experience ever! The guest house itself is charming, spotless, central and quiet.... the added bonus is Akshay and his AMAZING family..... the most hospitable hosts you could ever hope to find. No request was a problem and we really felt that Akshay and his family went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. One of the highlights was spending time in the kitchen with Akshays mother and sister Teena who prepared us the most delicious Rajasthani food.... and Akshays father who makes the best Chai in India. We cant wait to return and stay here again! Helen and Lee Sydney Australia
We had a great stay at the Little Garden Guesthouse. Akshay was very welcoming, a great host and we really wished we had stayed for longer! The room was immaculate and very stylishly decorated. The location was perfect and 5 mins from the city palace. Akshay gave us a very quick tour of the city palace and helped us get a boat to view the lake palace and also recommended a really nice restaurant for dinner. We had to leave at 5am the next day and managed to have a hot shower, even at that hour - would definitely recommend this stay!
Little Garden Guest House is the best! I felt so at home in Udaipur. Great location and beautiful rooms with yummy breakfast. Family is super sweet, knowledgable, and accommodating. Highly recommend.
