An absolute great place to stay! Well located and it looks amazing... The best way to discover the city of Rome is by walking and from Loris everything is quite nearby! There is enough space for staying with more then two people, as we did. Great neighbourhood as well with lots of nice restaurants! Just around the corner a very nice square where the locals are meeting each night, just great!
The apartment is perfectly located: 2-3 blocks to the nearest taxi stop and metro. The neighborhood is a picturesque, residential area with cobble-stoned streets, a small piazza with fountain, several small churches, dozens of boutiques and specialty shops, several small markets; and a wide variety of trattorias, wine bars, and pubs.
The apartment is a nice size for two people; the added bedroom for a third person (twin bed) is very, very small but adequate. It is a 4th floor walk-up, 71 stairs; not a problem if you are fit. (The stairs are wide with handrails and lights at every landing.) The street itself is not busy and the apartment is quiet and filled with light when you open the shutters.
Our host Lori was away on business and we were unable to meet her. However she responded promptly to all emails and was a pleasure to deal with. Her colleague, Francesco, was very pleasant to work with and was always accessible by phone. (Upon arrival, we were greeted and shown around by another associate, Marcello, who was very welcoming and friendly -- although a bit nervous because he spoke little English. (Certainly far better than our Italian; we had no problem understanding him and getting our questions answered.)
The apartment is nicely decorated and clean. The appliances are modern and they all worked well. There are plenty of power outlets in every room. So why 4-stars instead of five? Although we were very pleased with the apartment and our hosts, it lacked some amenities. None of these are big problems but it's best to know before renting. I post them here to inform -- not to complain.
1.The water pressure in the shower is abysmal -- not much more than a dribble -- we were told there was nothing to be done; an old building with old pipes.
2.The kitchen supplies are sparse. (Minimal glasses and flatware and only one serving/mixing bowl.) It's ok if you are planning to eat out all of the time -- otherwise you have to run the dishwasher or hand wash after every meal.
3.The linens are similarly sparse. No extra sheets or pillowcases and one bath towel and one hand towel per person. There was no hot-pad in the kitchen (for picking up hot pots) and only one kitchen towel.
4.The wireless internet is fast -- but the line drops frequently. This appears to be a problem with the power outlet that it is plugged into; vibrations in the building rattle the plug and turns the router off/on. It happens a LOT.
5.The front door to the apartment building appears to be warped and it sticks. We usually had to kick the base of the door quite hard to get it to open. Not a big problem; but access would be difficult for someone who is physically challenged.
Despite these issues, I would not hesitate to return. We had a wonderful stay.
We had an absolutely fantastic stay in Rome and in Loris place. Monti is the perfect location to explore the city, the bars are great and the restaurants even better. We wish we had more time to stay and can only recommend to pick Monti as the place to stay and enjoy this amazing city.
Lori's apartment is great for spending time in Rome: very well situated (subway and some major sites are in walking distance), close to nice restaurants and night life, quiet street/building (slept very well!), lot's of space in the apartment and all necessities are there. Lori is responds quickly to questions and inquiries.
I can highly recommend her!
Great location, well appointed, quiet and comfortable apartment.
Great flat, great location! About 15 minutes to walk from Roma Stazione Termini (railway station), 5 minutes to Colosseo. WiFi and everything is in the best order. Lori, thank you for hospitality!:)
We stayed in this appartment for 8 days and enjoyed every minute. It is beautyfully decorated and equiped with everything you need during your vacations like dish washer, conditioner, etc. It is also well cleaned. Of course, the location is also agreat. I would recommend everyone to book this appartment and next time we return to Rome, I will definitely stay here. Thank you also, Lori, for your quick answering and for this flat.
We had a fantastic time in Rome due in large part to Lori's great apartment! Monti is so lovely--definitely the best neighborhood for a relaxed but lively experience of Rome. The location of the apartment is perfect and the space itself is great. Very roomy, ideal for us (a couple with a baby), tastefully furnished, and very clean. Lori very kindly supplied a cot for the baby and a high chair, which made our vacation extra easy! We travel without a stroller so the climb up to the top floor was not a problem but those with strollers or limited mobility should be aware that this might be tricky. That said, the height makes for beautiful light and views--highly recommend!
Two good old mates visiting Rome for the first time and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay. The flat looks amazing in the photos and even better in the 'flesh'. It's really easy to get to and only a stone's throw from il Colosso. We'd definitely recommend it to anyone* looking for a comfortable stay in an amazing city.
* There are quite a few stairs up to it which may be a hindrance to those who are less mobile.
