Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
THE BEST LOCATION for nightlife, dining and shopping. A block and half from city market, half a block from Broughton St. shopping district, 5 blocks from River St. We also list as 3 BR sleeps 8 for a bit more money, same house! Just close off bedroom that has 2 queens. Built in 1822, OOZES history!! Great courtyard. One FREE parking space. Parking garage located I. Front of the house.

The space
This is the garden level apartment that is completely separate from the upstairs main house. This has one king bed and a queen bed. It has a living space, kitchen and bathroom. Besides the absolute beauty and historical importance of the home - you will LOVE the location. Especially if you are interested in walking to fine dining, shopping and nightlife.

Mapquest 311 W York to get an idea of what is nearby. Garibaldi's, Paula Deen, Belford's, Alure, The Grey, Apersand, Anthropolgie, Kate Spade, J Crew, Free People, City Market and so forth are all within a 5 minute walk! River Street is 5 blocks away. We are also just 1 block from the Jepson Museum of Modern Art. We are 2 blocks from the Civic Center if you are coming to town for an event. Most tours begin within 4-5 blocks of our home. We are not exaggerating about our FABULOUS location.**Please Note** This is a completely separate downstairs unit with another unit above, you will be able to hear the guests above you walking around through the 200 year old floors. We inform all upper unit guests to keep the noise down after 11:30 pm.

History of 311 West York Street Property:
Our house and the one next door (twin houses) were built by Issiah Davenport for 2 Brothers. The brothers were downtown merchants. Our owner had 1 daughter. She had children that were tutored by Eli Whitney. ( invented of cotton gin).
In the 1970's the president of France stayed in our house. D'Estaing. His ancestor was Admiral D'Estaing. He was the French Admiral that defended Savannah during the American Revolution. There is a statue of him in square by Vinnie Van Go Go's. At the time the French president stayed at our home it was owned by the director of the Telfair Museum. He was friends with D'Estaing. There were guards posted outside with machine guns! At the time the house next door was a rooming house with derelicts.

Guest access
We will text you a code for the digital locks on the DAY Of your arrival only AFTER the house is clean. Our daughter-in-law, Rocel, will text you the NEW code.

Other things to note
Check Out is 11:00 a.m PROMPT.
Move vehicles at 11:00 so cleaners can have parking spot.

NO smoking anywhere in the house or too close to the entrances. Our next guests may not be too fond of cigarette smell.

The brick floors are 200 years old and uneven. This could be trip hazard.
