Escape to an Alaskan wilderness cabin 40 minutes by water taxi, with True North Kayak Adventures ($80/adult, $50/kid). Here you can hike, kayak and relax in style at this charming, one of a kind retreat between the sea and mountains. The house is perched up on a hillside which requires climbing the equivalent of 5 flights of stairs, has an outhouse, running water in kitchen sink (unless there is drought). The house has a fully equipped kitchen, beautiful woodwork and a fabulous king size bed!

The space
This is a remote cabin in the Alaskan Wilderness. Guests must be self sufficient, able to climb 5 sets of stairs and pack their luggage etc in and out. There is a main cabin with upstairs loft which has a king bed and views of Halibut Cove Lagoon. The third bedroom is a separate sleeping cabin with two adjacent rooms each with a full bed. Both cabins have wood stoves for heat and the woodshed is full of dry firewood. We do not have electricity or cell phone service at Water’s Edge. There is a bath house with a solar shower for bathing and an outhouse. The kitchen has a propane 4 burner gas stove. Do not count on the oven working. Propane is supplied. A charcoal grill is available on the back deck of the cabin. Please bring charcoal. A large cooler is at the cabin ice packs are recommended to keep food cold. To go to the Saltry Restaurant and the village of Halibut Cove you must take their ferry from and back to Homer. Experienced kayakers may paddle out of the lagoon with the tide to the Saltry with reservations. Please call them directly to book.

Guest access
The entire house, sleeping cottage and bath house are available to guests. The the Kachemak Bay State Parks Ranger Station is a 10 minute hike or 5 minute paddle from the cabin.

Other things to note
A water taxi ride is required to get to the cabin at $80 per adult and $50 per kid round trip. Kayaks and paddle boards can be rented as well for $60 per double kayak and $40 per single and SUPs for a 24 hour period. Once you make your reservation at Water's Edge, we will give you times that you can depart from Homer, you choose a time and we send a link to make the water taxi and kayak rentals (if you so choose) reservation or you can give us a call.
