The Michael Yeasley guest house is a charming way station tucked in downtown Shepherdstown, the oldest enclave in West Virginia and one teeming with restaurants, coffee shops and arts and crafts centers hard against the Potomac River.

Outdoor activities, like rafting, tubing, kayaking, golf, and hiking are all within walking distance. We are only short drive to Charles Town Casinos and Antietam Battlefield. We are fully licensed and support the community by paying occupancy tax.

The space
The two-story guest house features three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen.
Newly refinished wood floors throughout the public spaces and master bedroom. Fresh paint throughout. Carpet in the second bedroom. Two full baths with all of the amenities: one with a large soaker tub and the other with a shower. New beds, bedding, and towels. Large laundry room with iron and ironing board. Kitchen is stocked with cooking implements, plates, utensils, and spices. A Weber grill, briquettes and lighter fluid are available for cookouts.

The guest house abuts the historic Michael Yeasley stone house along a common patio in the rear.

Location

Shepherdstown, West Virginia, United States

Shepherdstown also is home to Shepherd University, the temporary posting of 4,000-plus students that was established in 1871. It is a 75-minute drive from Baltimore and Washington, D.C., a stone's throw from the Battle of Antietam grounds in Sharpsburg, Md., the Hollywood Casino of Charles Town, the farmer markets of Martinsburg and John Brown's raid in Harpers Ferry.

The sleepy yet vibrant village touts a year-round social calendar, including an active film and music scene, a sports calendar that celebrated the university's Division II national runner-up football team in 2015 and abundant Civil War attractions.

It is a sliver of a gem ensconced in a state that truly is "wild and wonderful," as the motto proclaims, largely unspoiled by the crush of humanity and stuffed with panoramic mountain views and meadows dotted with livestock and wildlife.

I'm a West Virginian by way of Houston, Los Angeles, and DC. Southern at heart, I love to host intimate dinner parties for friends. Long drives in the beautiful West Virginia countryside is one of my favorite past-times, along with shopping and home decorating.

During your stay
My husband and I some times stay in the stone house on the property with our two dogs, Lola and Mr. Peeps. The two house are completely separate, and you might not even see us if you are staying in the guests house. Although, we are always available if you need us.
