  • Sylvie's place is just as she describes, it's a nice quite peaceful studio in a great location, tucked away in a little neighbourhood called Haiku.

As I said it's 'tucked away' but with sylvie's instructions it wasn't difficult at all to find and once you are there it really feels like you are surrounded by nature and the view outside is just spectacular.

The studio has everything it needs, and is very neat and tidy, cute decor.

The closes little town is Paia which I found really nice, if not a little hipster ;) but it offered lots of cool places to eat and shop. (recommend dazoo in paia and also mama's fish house is pricey but amazing food for a special occasion) There's a couple of beaches quite close to the studio, also we went on a bike ride down haleakala and there's a company called haleakala bike tours who are in Haiku as well, so it's really convenient to do that as well.

Maui in itself was just amazing, we did a day trip to hana, spent a day snorkelling (sylvie has gear you can borrow which is great!) and it was a lot better than snorkelling in oahu and went to lots of beaches on the west coast. We stayed for four nights and I think our next trip to hawaii, we'll probably spend more time on maui and Sylvie's place is just perfect if you are looking for a special stay in Maui.

Having stayed in a swanky hotel in hawaii, and multiple air bnbs around different islands, renting these little gems on air bnb is definitely the way to go and sylvie's place should be on the top of the list.

Sylvie gave us lots of privacy but was prompt to ask any of my questions through the air bnb site and I only got to say hello and goodbye as we left (Sylvie lives on top of the studio in a separate flat) but she seemed like a lovely person and was no doubt a great host.

  • We saw so many Airbnb the last weeks and Sylvies studio was by far the best. We spent a hole week there and we loved it. The studio was very clean and the kitchen has everything you need for cooking.
Sylvie was very friendly and had so many recommendations what to do or see. We loved to talk with her about windsurfing.
We hope to come back once!

  • We enjoyed staying in this peaceful studio, it was within 10 minutes to our convention site. Our requests and emails to the owner were met and answered promptly. The inside of the studio was most comfortable and had everything we needed during our stay. We will certainly enjoy staying there again.

  • Very nice place, roomy and has all the amenities. Peaceful, and super quiet. The deck is a great place to relax and enjoy the view. As another reviewer noted, it's a bit tricky to find (don't try it after dark!) and the steps going down are steep. But the pluses more than make up for it. A short trail leads to 'Baked on Maui' which is great for breakfast and lunch.

  • Sylvie's place was amazing. When we were first on route we got a little nervous with the winedy rds but we got used to them. The studio itself was fantastic and had everything we needed and a great size space. I particularly loved the washer and dryer. It had a beautiful backyard. The only thing that would have made this place better would have been a bbq, but the kitchen was fine for cooking itself. Great location, allowed us to travel east, west, and south while staying central to airport.

  • We loved our stay at Sylvie's in Haiku. It is a nice bright room surrounded by lovely plants and close enough to everything without being in the middle of town.
we especially liked going to a beach Sylvie told us about which is protected by a reef. Spreckelsville or baby beach is where we spent every sunny day. She was a very gracious host and gave us many good tips as well as a basket of lilikoi. Haiku - our favorite place on Maui.

  • Thank you, Sylvie for sharing your beautiful retreat with us it was a treat to overlook the lush landscape. You gave us one avocado and it fed us for two days with leftovers! I wish we could have stayed longer. Everything was as pictured and better in person.

  • I spent two weeks on Jan 2014 in Silvie's studio. I had a great time. The place is nice and cozy, really well equipped and quiet. All you see from the windows is green and flowers, and when it rains it feels like you're in the middle of the jungle. It's also well located, 10 min away from hookipa/paia, and walking distance to the cannery (where you can grab a coffee or shop at quatro). Overall, really nice place to stay.

  • Everything was as described. The directions from the airport were a bit confusing, especially because we arrived after sunset. So you might want to (website hidden) it for yourself before arrival. Once arrived we instantly fell in love with the appartment, the surroundings and especially that part of the island. Paia became our favourite town on the island and it is only 10min by car. From here starts the famous road to Hana. On the map it looks like the place is a bit off track, but on a small island like Maui everything is only a matter of minutes.

The appartment is nice, private and clean. It is spacious, has a well-equipped little kitchen and a washing-machine/dryer.

Sylvie wasn't on Maui while we stayed there, so we never actually met her. She made sure that there would have been someone to help us, if we had needed help though.

In summary we would definately go there again. The price is pretty good for what you get!
