We are Wayward Goose Farm (on instagram)! We have a spacious & comfy studio apt. overlooking our working VT dairy farm/farm market waiting just for you. Check out morning milking, relax with an album on the record player, or take a walk on the rail trail right out back! Now teaming with Red Clover Ale Co. (on insta too!) in Brandon, VT, we'll provide a voucher with each booking good for a complimentary pour in their new brewery/tap room! Guests also receive a 10% off coupon for our new market!

The space
Home is our beautiful dairy farm here in south western Vermont and we love to welcome guests. A carpeted, cozy finished studio apartment above our attached 3 car garage awaits. A comfy queen sized bed, 2 new twin sized beds and charming vintage style decor make it the perfect space to relax and unwind. A full bath with stall shower is spacious, well appointed, and clean.

Wireless internet is available and there's also a selection of board games. Guests have a private entrance and little ones will have fun swinging and sliding on the newly built wooden play set in the yard, in full view from the east apartment windows. Relax amid the perennial gardens in the front yard while the kids play.

A kitchenette with a two burner cook top and small fridge, toaster oven, coffee amenities, and a petite assortment of basic pantry items lets you prepare simple meals. Choose to dine inside or make it al fresco and take your meal out to the front yard dining/seating/grilling area when the weather permits.

Our newly constructed farm market has a wonderful selection of the most delicious local goods, including our raw milk and cream top yogurt, local and regional cheeses, salamis, organic veggies, organic coffee from a local roaster, maple syrup, eggs, ice cream and much more. We also have a wide array of meats including our own grass fed beef, pork, and veal, chickens and local pastured lamb. Included with each stay is a 10% off coupon (good for one visit) toward your total purchases in our market.

If you have ever wanted to experience life on a dairy farm, this is the place for you! Guests can watch the milking chores in the morning or sleep in and just enjoy the peace and quiet.

Our farm's surrounding area holds plenty of opportunity for adventure. The D&H Rail Trail runs literally through our backyard and is a perfect venue for birders and hikers alike. Experience it from the comfy seat of one of our pair of vintage Schwinn cruisers (see photos)! It is 22.3 miles long and is very popular among bicyclists, cross country skiers, horseback riders, walkers and joggers. Bring your binoculars, because we've spotted everything from bald eagles to scarlet tanagers on the trail, not to mention snapping turtles, beavers, and muskrats. Nature lovers can also partake of nearby Merck Forest, Haystack Mountain, and the Hebron Nature Preserve.

There are too many attractions to do justice to here and we are centrally located to many nearby cities from Manchester to Bennington, Albany to Saratoga, Rutland to Glens Falls.

We are happy to answer any questions you may have and look forward to hosting you.

We do not discriminate and happily welcome all genders, ethnicities, colors, shapes, sizes, astrological signs, planetary affiliations, musical tastes, etc!

We are Dan and Laurie Brooks, sole owners/operators of Wayward Goose Farm and market. We have 4 grown children, and 5 grandchildren. Dan has been a dairy farmer all his life as well as an avid outdoorsman whose non farm interests range from forestry of native trees, to fishing, to foraging for wild mushrooms, to birding. I (Laurie) am an artist who works primarily in watercolors, graphite, charcoal and linoleum prints. We are both active in environmental, social, and racial justice causes and devote considerable time and effort supporting a variety of organizations and causes on this front. We have an elderly dog, Paul (a corgi mix), who is not allowed at the barn due to a fondness for cow manure, and a barn cat, Lulu, whose domain is the haymow and milking parlor, though she is free to come and go as she pleases. We enjoy hosting visitors and getting to know folks from all walks of life. We have hosted guests from China, Thailand, Scotland, England, The Netherlands, United Arab Emirates, Austria, Israel, India, Australia, Germany, Canada, and from all over the U.S. too. We love hearing people's stories and telling our own. We consider ourselves lucky to have been able to meet so many interesting and amazing people. In addition to being Airbnb hosts ourselves, we have used it as travelers too. We have visited Montreal, CA, Monschau, Germany, Pontarlier, France and Fourbanne, France as well as locations in this country. We have had wonderful experiences in every place we've stayed and our hosts have been fantastic. We hope to use it again as travelers soon!

During your stay

We limit our interaction with guests in accordance with CDC and state guidelines, keeping 6 feet, wearing masks, etc. We have also created a new outdoor space in the front yard, solely for guests, to replace the previously shared back patio.

Since we do live here though, we are always available for questions, advice, etc.
