The Space

This listing is for the Master bedroom in my 3 bedroom Cottage. It has a new Cal-King mattress (that's the biggest size bed made), a walk-in closet, a desk, 2 chairs, lots of natural light, a fan and a TV with a DVR. You will get a key for the lock on your door. A large bathroom is next door. A 2nd bathroom is in the front part of the house. This is a 3-bedroom house, with 2 bathrooms that are shared just like at a regular home.

*I have several different rooms to choose from at my Bed and Breakfast. If you have a large group, you can rent out the other rooms too. You can see the other rooms at my home if you click on my photo and scroll down to my other listings.

You will need a car – you CAN NOT walk to public transportation here in the hills. More information on Car Services are listed Below.

Your pets are welcome here. We have Faith, a female German Shepherd who likes to lay around and sleep mostly. She doesn't bark and will probably just look up and wag her tail when she sees you, but won't want to take the trouble to stand up to welcome you. :) She's fits our home, very mellow and peaceful.

Guest Access

Guests have access to the Living room, Kitchen and the spacious backyard. The kitchen was custom designed by a Beverly Hills Chef; it is new and large, with every modern convenience.

You are welcome to use the whole kitchen, to prepare some or all of your meals. Feel free to buy your own groceries and store them in the refrigerator. The ingredients for a fresh breakfast are INCLUDED in the price of your stay.

The new Laundry and Dryer machines are available for guest use, and washing soap and extras are all provided. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the back yard view for meals or tanning or relaxing in the evening.

Interaction with Guests

I work from my home office located in the back of the property, but I'm always available for any questions you may have. I like to give my guests as much privacy and quiet as I can during their visit, unless they want to chat. I love hearing about different places and my guests adventures too!

  • This was our first airbnb experience and we weren't too sure, but Helen made us feel welcome and comfortable. We enjoyed visiting with her at breakfast. She also helped us get to where we were traveling each day and made great suggestions. Even though there were other guests, there never seemed to be a problem accessing the bathroom(s). And the location couldn't be better for visiting Universal, Warner Brothers, and other Hollywood locations.

  • Helen is a wonderful host! As a host, we were extremely impressed with Helen's attention to detail and her caring demeanor. The house was amply stocked with all that a guest could ever desire and great amenities to boot (including the beautiful vintage tub in the main bathroom). The breakfast bar was stocked with many wonderful options and tea options are unlimited. Helen's beautiful home is set in a picturesque neighborhood with breathtaking views of the valley and surrounding peaceful environment.
Helen has done a great job with leaving laminated notes around the house which instruct and inspire! This personal touch illuminates Helen's attention to detail, a quality that any host should possess.
Overall, we had a great stay with Helen and look forward to returning soon!

  • Amazing and discreet host, offered us a warm welcome and access to everything in the house, including a fully stocked fridge in the kitchen. The neighborhood is very quiet so you can get a good night's rest, but it's close enough to the downtown area. It took us about 10-15 minutes to drive there on a Saturday. 2 super clean bathrooms fully equipped with anything you may need. I look forward to seeing Helen again soon.

  • Helen grew up in a large family, and thus has the intuitive ability to be almost invisible when there, yet is always available, when there, or by phone or whatever, when not there. She is a great person to talk to, btw, it's just she strikes a perfect balance in the way that someone who grew up in a large family naturally does. If her car is blocking your car, and she thinks she might sleep late, she leaves her keys out so you can move her car. i.e., she's very trusting and generous with everything in the house. (She actually sleeps in an adjoining guest cottage/room.) You don't ever get the sense you are intruding on her. nor that she is intruding on you.

Even though I was kind of there for professional reasons, I had lots of free time. Every suggestion she made of things to do was great, she prints out maps for you, etc..

She is, btw, a writer and former television reporter.

There are three rooms, possibly two people per room, plus her, and only two bathrooms. This never was a problem, but I think we found ourselves subtly adjusting when we woke up to ensure we'd never wait. And there was some level of relief on those days when there were fewer other guests.

The first day I asked for extra hangers. When I returned later that day they were waiting outside my door, and, perhaps metaphorically important, exactly the number I needed. (And no, I don't think she counted my clothes. That's just the way it is there...)

I also met a former guest, who had decided to move to L.A, and had become Helen's friend.

  • My parents and I had a wonderful stay at Helen's place! Security was the first priority for me and the Hollywood Cottage was just the choice. Guests in each room had their own set of keys to the house and their own rooms. The neighborhood was safe and nice as well. Not to mention the beautiful view up there! The bathrooms and other common areas are neat and clean. Though we had a little problem with the TV and the air bed in our room, it was overall a pleasant stay!

  • Helen's place was great for the night I was there - I had everything I could possibly need. She really does make it feel like your home. I
    Not to mention, beautiful location!

  • My stay with Helen was a pleasant one for numerous reasons. Cleanliness and security were high priorities for me, and she provided both - the bathrooms were very clean, common areas tidy and each guest had their own set of keys to the house and respective rooms. Beyond that, Helen shared a warm home with me. She availed herself at any time of day to lend advice on traffic, directions, restaurants and cool sites to visit. If you have a busy itinerary, Helen is great about honoring that too. Breakfast and coffee is conveniently available in the mornings, and there's a cute dog, Rosie, to boot. :) Enjoyed my time at the Hollywood Cottage very much! Can't wait to visit you again, Helen!

About
My favorite food is dark chocolate-- I have to have a bite a day! I am of Indian descent; my parents immigrated to the US from Mumbai, and I was raised here in Los Angeles, and have lived here my entire life. I have enjoyed becoming a veteran host on Airbnb; I have learned so many new things from my guests that has made my life richer. My hobby is collecting "old" technology. It is amazing to me the jump we've made just in my lifetime. I have in my collection a 1950 television, an antique record player, a camera, telegraph machine and phone. I love being a tourist in my own city; exploring all the special spots that most residents take for granted and never visit. I like learning the history behind a location, finding the best restaurants, and good movies and television! When I visit a new city, it is important to me to stay in a very clean, ultra-comfortable place. I love little luxuries, the best pancakes, the nicest sheets, the most comfortable pillow, the perfect cup of tea. Things that irritate me when I travel are: getting lost, and people that ruin my day with their not friendly attitudes. Little details do matter, and I love making that difference for my guests. I have lived my entire life in Los Angeles, and have worked at several amusement parks and (email hidden), so I can give you those helpful hints you won't get elsewhere!
