Rosa was exceptionally helpful, the atmosphere was great and they are even building a terrace and a jaccuzi now. The location is just perfect and so was the breakfast. Stable internet access also.
I cannot think of anything negative.
Well worth the money.
Thank you, Rosa !
Rosa was warm and welcoming. The room was beautiful with a view over looking a park. This was a perfect 2 night stop for my boyfriend and I.
We had a great experience - our room was very clean, and the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good. There was a playful little cat that hung out in the lobby. Convenient location, too.
Very nice hôtel, Wellington placed ans convenient. Rosa is a vert helpful host.
Rosa and Sven are terrific hosts. The four-room hotel is quaint and lovely, and just as seen in the pictures. The hotel is in a terrific location, steps from the Plaza de Espana and great restaurants and in the heart of the Zona Colonial. As another reviewer wrote, you can head out, return to the hotel, go back out again, and return to the hotel all day - super convenient location. Tell taxi that its at 8 Damas street, not 9 Portes as Portes is under construction right now, Damas is just around the corner. Rosa and Sven are very knowledgeable and will help you with any needs, and Rose prepares a yummy omelet served with fresh-squeezed juices and tropical fruits. Highly recommend!
Rosa was a very lovely host. We arrived pretty late on 31th of December, but Rosa kept waiting for us. She and her husband even invited us to the new year's celebrations taking place in the colonial zone.
Very charming and clean room with a great view to the ocean.
Staying in Portes 9 was such a great way of exploring Santo Domingo. We had an amazing time there. Here's an objective review.
Location- 5 star
Nothing can beat its location. It's in the periphery of zona colonial- so everything is walking distance yet its quiet and peaceful. Very safe. You can go sight seeing in the morning. Come back rest your feet. Go out shopping- comeback drop your stuff. Go out and absorb the culture in the evenings when everything is warming up. Have dinner.. Come back rest and then get ready for the party as all the night clubs kind of start after midnight!
Property- 4.5 stars.
It's very charming. Will never get crowded as there are only 4 rooms. It has a nice living area where you can chill out listening to the music which drifts in from the city. It is minimally yet tastefully decorated and has all the necessary amenities- tv, wifi, hot water. The room could have been slightly bigger perhaps. The showerhead in the bathroom was good. It's very easy to warm up to this place. They have a small kitchen next to the living area. Breakfast is included. Our care taker took our orders and made really nice breakfast. I remember getting a plate of fresh fruits. It had the sweetest and ripest passion fruit I have ever tasted in my life. All the juices were freshly squeezed. We left early in the morning on the third day (around 6) but our caretaker woke up early and made us food. She's the sweetest. They have a cat called Terrrri. She's quite a character!
Hosts- 5 stars!!!
We were greeted by this girl- I forget her name. She was so lovely. We only speak English and she doesn't but we communicated pretty effectively! We met Sven a little later. He was an excellent host. He recommended some nice restaurants and night clubs. But more importantly he really helped us in arranging accommodation for our next stop in Bayahibe- which was a pretty impromptu decision. He hooked up with his friend Ferry who was very nice. He also arranged a taxi for us at a very nominal rate. He was friendly and we had some really interesting conversation. We did not meet Rosa as she was away for the duration of our visit.
We stayed there for 2 nights. I would say overall we had a great experience and we d definitely recommend it to anyone who's looking to have a full experience of Zona Colonia.
A great location, great room and great hosts. The room was clean & the location was ideal if you want to explore the Colonial Zone. The hosts were super friendly and helpful. And the morning breakfasts were delicious. The only issue was that I didn't get to stay long enough! Next time :)
Rosa was an amazing host. Always there, always ready to answer questions. The actual place? even better (if possible). Located close to pretty much everything you are looking for in the Colonial Zone. The rooms were clean, the AC was there if you need it, and the breakfast was simple yet completely satisfying.
Stay at this place while you still can. Soon enough the secret will be out and it might be increasingly hard to book.
