Unique downtown 3-story "Trinity" house in a historic courtyard on a small city street across from a community garden.
Trinities are rowhouses with three floors -- "father" (1st floor kitchen), "son" (2nd floor bedroom/bathroom), and "holy ghost" (3rd floor living room). The bedroom has a full bed and therefore could fit up to two people if shared or an air mattress can be used on the third floor. The stairs are spiral and the bathroom has a full bathtub and shower. The house is fully air conditioned with in-room units that can also be individually controlled.
My house is in a historic courtyard right in the heart of center city. The neighborhood is Washington Square West. There are lots of cafes, restaurants, bookstores and easy access to public transportation. You can also walk there from here -- one of the best things about living downtown!
There is a community garden across the street and friendly people coming and going at all times of the day and night. A very communal setting overall (although also private) staying here would give you a good sense of Philadelphia and this downtown neighborhood.
Please also note that In response to one 4/5s I received I have a professional cleaner come in now regularly so the place will be in tip-top shape for you!
House rule #1: No socks on the stairs! (It is highly recommended that you where slippers or go barefoot as the spiral staircase can be slippery when wearing socks.)
House rule #2: Respect the neighbors.
House rule #3: Please do not smoke in the house or in the shared courtyard. Thank you!

My husband and I really enjoyed our five-day stay at Christina's beautiful little house! Everything was even better than described. It is a wonderful location from which to explore the city on foot, or there is a subway station close by if you are going a bit farther afield. There are tons of lovely little places to eat close by, as well as very convenient supermarkets. It is a very quiet spot, tucked into a gated courtyard off a small street. We had no trouble with the oft-mentioned stairs, and I'd like to mention that there is plenty of space in the tub/shower. Sometimes they can be very tight in small houses! Also, everything was very clean, and the decor is lovely. We especially enjoyed the third floor, with its lofted ceiling and interesting artifacts from around the world. Christina was a great host, very communicative and welcoming. We would love to stay here again!
Christina was a lovely host. I did not have an opportunity to meet her, but I had everything I needed and felt very welcome in her home. The neighborhood was perfect. The location was quiet, accessible and safe. I would absolutely recommend anyone visiting Philly to rent with Christina, and this is coming from someone who used to live in the city!! Thank you for your hospitality! :-)
Christina is a very gracious host. Her home is clean, well located within the city, and exactly as described. We would stay here again.
Christina's trinity house is charming beginning as soon as you enter the gated mews tucked on a side street. Neighbors on the mews were friendly and helpful. We did not meet Christina but she was accommodating and immediately responsive to messages
The nature of trinity houses requires care with the corner spiral staircase and she provided slippers with nonslip soles and there are clever wooden hand grips for safe descent. The bed is tucked with access from one side. Bathroom, also on second floor, has inventive whimsical tile work and hand painted Italianate basin. Third floor living room to sit and read but don't look for big screen TV (and we didn't. ). It's not that kind of a place.
This is small footprint living: private, quiet, and easily accessible by foot to good restaurants as well as the convention center.
What a wonderful place to stay, and what a terrific host! Christina's tiny, beautiful Trinity townhouse is a gem and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. Christina made me feel very welcome, and was great about trouble-shooting any potential problems. You have to be ready to climb some stairs in this three-storey place (I soon got very agile at this). It didn't feel small at all as the space is very well-organized and full of light and colours. Great neighbourhood and ideally located in a beautiful part of central Philly, near shops and restaurants, art galleries, Old Town, bike paths, etc.
