THE AREA: This is a quiet contemporary French Villa in guarded community District 2 next to Saigon river (10 minutes - $4 taxi away from busy downtown Saigon) My neighbours are businessmen/ women, millionaires and expats. Quiet and guarded neighborhood with a semi-private park on the river bank, but perfect for a small private party, meeting, business stay in Saigon. Previously rented out to expats only.

580 square meters, ideal location from financial district, downtown Saigon, only 10 - 12 mins taxi ($3 - $4 USD). Easy access and breath taken view on the drive from downtown Saigon. 10 mins to Spa Authentic, one of the must activities in Saigon by Tripadvisor.

NEARBY ATTRACTIONS: (PLEASE SEE MY GUIDEBOOK) 12 mins to restaurants, bars, Opera house, shopping center. Typical Vietnamese living scenes: outside of the guarded community, around the corners. (Food stands, street-side dinning: local beers, Pho - noodle soup) ATM and banking services steps outside the community.

Helpful Q&A:

1. How far is the house from the airport by taxi [25 mins] & how much is the fare? [approximately USD $15, take ONLY official Mai Linh or VinaSun, [or you could get charged up to $100 by rogue driver, and we cannot help you out of this situation]

2. How far is the apartment from the center also by taxi [2.8 km] & how much is the fare? [about USD $3]

3. Our flight takes us to SGN at approximately 24:00 or 1:00 in the morning. Will there be transport/taxi available at that time [Yes, taxis are 24 hours at airport] & how do we get in the house at such an early time? [if check in is before 11pm, we will meet you. After 11pm, you will have a pass code for a lockbox for the key]

4. We plan to go on a day tour of Cu Chi Tunnel or Vung Tau. Do you have any info on this? [yes, you'll have all tourist information on the living room table when you walk in]

5. Our flight back home will be early morning, at 01:00 AM, which means that we will be checking out on the day before. Can we leave our luggage in the loft the whole day, while we wait to go to the airport later for our flight? [of course, you can store your luggage securely with us, and late-check-out is also OK if there's no incoming guest]

6. What's the weather like? [Saigon has 2 seasons: raining from May - Nov, sunny from Dec - Arp). But visit Vietnam confidently any time of the year, each season has its own special fruit, food, an cultural traditions]

7. How do I get a cellphone? You should have a disposable SIM card ($5-$10 for 2 weeks use) for your international unlocked phone. You can pick up SIM card at the airport right next to Citibank ATM. So easiest to get some cash then pick up the SIM card at the same time.
There is a telephone in the house for calling taxi

  • My family and I visited Vietnam for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Maisao's house. Initially we had only booked for our first four nights, but soon asked to book another three nights after returning from the coast. It felt very much like coming home to return to the house! Lovely bedrooms with separate bathrooms, comfortable living area, wifi, lots of small creature comforts. Maisao and her brother Nam were more than helpful hosts.

  • Our group had very much enjoyed out stay here. The house was exactly as advertized - very comfortable, safe and conveniently located in D2. All of the amenities provided (bedding, towels, kitchen utensils, appliances and etc.) were fantastic. Having the roof deck with an amazing view was a nice bonus. Also, the communication with the hosts was excellent. Overall, an A+ experience!

  • I stayed in this house with 24 others for 5 nights. The house was big enough to accommodate all of us and was designed modernly. There was even a rooftop table area where we could go up to relax and chill in the night. Do be prepared to climb several storeys if you are coming in a big group!

Sao and her parents were great hosts during the stay. Sao was very responsive to the emails when I asked for more blankets. Her parents were great hosts as well and attended to our needs whenever we requested for something (for example, the kitchen stove wasn't working initially but they fixed it efficiently). Furthermore, they anticipated the problems tourists would face in Vietnam since we didn't know how to speak the language. They prepared small cards that had the addresses of the house and the shopping area in the city to make it convenient when explaining to cab drivers. You can also easily call for cabs from the house because the cab agency already knows the house address.

The house was located in District 2, a 10-minute drive from District 1 (the city). It was a worrying sight initially because we thought we lived very far from the city. However, it was convenient and cheap to get taxis and the house provided a more "local experience" as compared to District 1. By taking a 5 minutes walk out of the house, they (email hidden) Club place that plays loud music at night. There is also plenty of local food such as Bhanh Mi and Chicken Rice outside the house which you can explore for breakfast choices.

All in all, it was a fantastic stay and we would easily stay here again should we come back to Vietnam in the future.

  • fantastic stay!! Sao is a very kind person, her parents too are very welcoming and helpful. Price is really reasonable, the house is very comfortable to stay, very spacious. the location is also great.

    March 2014
  • House is huge and with a modern design. Maisao and her parents were also very accommodating to last minute changes when my father-in-law decided to drop by for a night so that he can see me off for my flight the next day.

  • Myself and a few colleagues recently stayed at Mai Sao's place. It was very comfortable and spacious. The place is about 5USD taxi from the the centre of town so it was very convenient for us.

She was very responsive. Whenever I had a question she replied to my emails straight away.

Her father even provided a printer after I enquired if she had one or not.

Overall we had a very pleasant stay and we would easily stay there again.

  • The house is huge and very nicely furnished. Conveniently located, just a short taxi ride to Quan 1. Great place to stay at HCMC and discover this vibrant city! Higly recommended!

  • Maisao is quick in replying (time difference must be taken into consideration). In terms of problems or issues with the house, she is easy to contact and will address the issue right away. She is very pleasant and is easy to talk to.

The house is great for groups to live in. It is equipped with all the necessities: from kitchen to bathroom to laundry products and equipment, as well as must know contact numbers to make your stay easier.

  • Great place to stay! We had a med/large group of people who wanted to stick together, instead of having to be separated in hotels.
We arrived in a little late, but Maisao had her parents to meet us at the house. They gave us a quick tour and showed us the necessities.
The house is massive! 6 spacious rooms each with their own ensuite. You're able to either relax at the upstairs terrace or the large kitchen or living room downstairs. Filtered water is readily available which was one less worry on our entire trip.

The location of the house isn't too far from the hustle and bustle District 1 allowing for quiet nights. It should take nomore then 10min to get into District 1. In the morning you are able to walk down the street to enjoy some of the local food stalls which adds to the whole local experience.

Will definitely recommend to any travelling groups to Saigon!!

World wanderer, currently living in San Francisco most of the time. Born in Hanoi, raised in Saigon, self-taught and schooled in US. I built this house in 2009 with a plan to move back to Vietnam, shipped a container of interior supplies to Vietnam from the US. The house is super airy and quiet, like a resort. Ladies, enjoy the extra large bathroom and relaxing bubble bath. I usually took one past midnight after clubbing in the city, listening to Frank Sinatra. My parents also are in the profile pictures are patrolling the house often. My dad is a research professor/diplomat. My mum manages a department at a private university. City I love: San Francisco, Ha Noi, Saigon, London, Luzern, Barcelona, Bali, Hongkong I typically have guests as business travelers, expats, celebrities, researchers, professors and dear friends!
