I have lived in Cairo for 5 years and recently moved into my own two bedroom apartment in Zamalek which I am now offering a part of to host people after experiencing airbnb as a guest and loving the experience!
My apartment has recently been completely decorated by me and has a very spacious large air conditioned living room. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms
Includes: Cleaner three times a week, High speed DSL, OSN HD satellite TV, Apple TV, Netflix and ALL bills.
* Two minutes walk away from Seqouia and Left Bank.
* Easy access to Taxis and Nile taxi.
* Plenty of options for great restaurants and bars within walking distance.
I know the area very well and would be happy to recommend places to go to if you are visiting.
On offer is a large room with two double beds and is completely isolated from the apartment save the entrance from the terrace.
This leaves you your own private apartment within an apartment, with access to the kitchen and bathrooms, and of course the terrace/balcony.
Get in touch if you're interested and want to find out more!
Only rule is kindly no shoes in the house, other than that have a great time and enjoy this wondrous city.
The reservation was canceled 8 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Karim was very helpful answering all my questions before arriving to his place in Cairo, even giving me advice about taxi's. During my stay he was out of town so I did not have the opportunity to meet him personally. However that led to the benefit of having his spacious place all to ourselves! It was nice feeling like we had a place of our own. Some small inconveniences arose such as uncomfortable mattresses and a faulty shower handle, but those things happen and for me did not compromise the overall experience. Unfortunately he was unreachable some days which made those inconveniences difficult to remedy. However, when I did have the opportunity to speak with him he responded very positively. For example it was unexpectedly cold at night and Karim had a friend drop of more blankets. When we needed to order food he told us where to find all the pamphlets in his flat. He also was very understanding about an oven plexiglass cover which got broken.
This was my third stay with Karim. As always, it was great. Why? There are several reasons.
1. Karim. He's great. Incredibly welcoming, warm-hearted, very funny and a great cook. I feel at home with him. I love being his guest.
2. The flat. It's spacious, beautiful and well-equipped. The terrace is amazing. It's important to note though that the room is facing the street. And streets in Cairo are noisy. No problem for me, but if you are a light sleeper, you might want to consider this.
3. The location. It's super central, extremely safe and there are good cafés and restaurants nearby. And for Cairo standards, the area is really clean.
So as always, a big recommendation from my side.
Upon arrival Karim met us on time as promised, and gave us a brief introduction about the apartment which was quick but ok. We liked the apartment right away, cozy and clean, however faced few big surprises. Given that it was late at night and we had traveled 8 hours with 2 kids it was no time to discuss the matters. Our biggest shock was that the sleeping arrangments were NOT as he had described in his posting. His one bedroom was outside the actual apartment basically a guest house by the terrace, which would be fine had it not been winter and weather so cold! The door and windows of this room did not close properly thus allowing much cold air into the room. There was a small heater that was hard to turn on, and our biggest complaint was that there was not enough blankets/sheets to keep us warm through the night, at all. Inside the actual apartment there was a small pull out couch (extremely uncomfortable and dented which gave me back pain) - The beds in the room outside I should add although he claims to be twins were old and not flat enough to comfortably sleep 2 persons, such as he intends for his guests. So here we are 4 adults and 2 kids that he claimed would sleep comfortably in the apartment. Upon first meeting him he said he would not like us to use his bedroom as it wasn't ready anyhow, but given that there was NOT enough sleeping space and most importantly enough bedding to keep us warm we had not choice but to use his room, after all we were paying good enough money and no place to sleep. Had he at least enough blankets we would be willing to sleep on the floor. The other big surprise was the shower which he informed us last minute that the faucet was broken and that he could not bring a plummer in time. He had left us a wrench to open and close the faucet which was so difficult for us that we were forced to either shower with very cold water or not shower at all! Anyhow, not to want to make an issue and although we suffered through cold and extremely uncomfortable sleep I did not complain to Karim, and was shocked when I received a call from him few days after our departure, basically yelling at me accusing me of lying about number of persons I had in the apartment, and that I had left the apartment a mess. He did not give me a chance to explain anything and hung up. It was very disturbing to get this call from him and although I was not going to complain to him his actions made me write this review. As for cleaning, we left some dishes and yes apartment could use a sweeping but that is exactly why we pay a cleaning fee! I have never experienced such a...
This was my worst experience on airbnb, i will never let people stay when i am not there, and will never accept families, I am not quite sure why Simin insists they were four when in fact they were six requiring six spots to sleep! no wonder there were not enough sheets and covers! and they slept in my room! which is a big no no! anyway lesson learned!
Karim is a very nice guy and absolutely trustworthy. The flat is in an excellent location in Zamalek and I presume that the terrace especially during the summer can be really nice! The room (rather two rooms) are separate (which is good because the flat is also a kind of party apartment :) but the bathroom is shared. All was fine from the beginning to the end!
Great place and great host. Karim's place is located in a nice neighborhood (located on the same street as a Hilton) but nothing about it felt overly touristy. The room is a comfortable place to return to after a long day/night roaming around Cairo and gives you all of the space and privacy you need. Also, the terrace is awesome. Karim couldn't have been a nicer and more welcoming host. I would absolutely stay here again.
Nice apartment and a really great host. Karim was helpful and courteous, and made sure I was comfortable throughout my stay. Definitely a recommended stay.
