Newly renovated, with bamboo floors and an exposed brick wall. The couch is a full size convertible sleeper.
This is a clean, light and airy 1 bedroom apartment. It has a private entrance, full bath, living room, and kitchenette. The apartment is newly-renovated with bamboo floors and new appliances.
The bedroom has a queen size bed with very comfortable Keetsa organic mattress, a large window, and a desk.
The living room includes a TV (with full cable), DVD player, full size sleeper couch, and a twin-size window seat/daybed.
The fully-stocked kitchenette has a fridge, stovetop, toaster oven, sink and microwave.
The apartment is well-located in Columbia Heights--the best neighborhood in the District!--just 2 blocks from the Columbia Heights metro and DC USA shopping and restaurants. There is a supermarket, and several local organic grocery stores within a few blocks. Also the Mt Pleasant strip is just two blocks away, with excellent restaurants (Thai, Pizza, Salvadorean, American), great bars (the Raven, the Marx Cafe, Tonic etc), and relaxing coffee shops. We will provide a list of our favorites places.
The apartment is also just five minutes walk to the hiking and bike trails and National Zoo in Rock Creek Park.
Both metro and bus lines run straight downtown within 15 minutes. There are also several city bike shares within a few blocks.
Street parking is easily available at the house.
Monroe is a pretty tree-lined street, with a great family and community environment. It is quiet and safe, but close to shopping, nightlife, and DC's best sites. There are also farmer's markets within a few blocks during the warm months.
We are happy to answer any questions about the apartment or about DC!
Very simple: we expect you to be respectful of the space and the neighborhood we love. Thanks!
The apartment and the location were fantastic! The apartment was neat, clean and orderly. The kitchen was very clean, well stocked and nicely designed. The overall space was very adequate, with very good natural and artificial lighting. We stayed for four (4) days and it felt very comfortable and homey - Ben communicated very well, and very promptly by email. I highly recommend this apartment and these hosts - we would definitely stay again!
Ben was a great host. I never met him, but he was pretty responsive when I had any questions.
The place looked great and was clean which was my top priority! Ben will always be a mensch to me (he knows why). The neighborhood was great. I didn't get to explore much because of the bitter cold, but there's so much in walking distance. They was very kind to make sure I had enough heat during my stay as well.
All in all, a great listing that I'd definitely recommend and use again when I'm in DC.
The apartment was clean and exactly as described. It was warm and comfortable. The house is on a quite street a short walk from the metro or bus. I did not meet Benjamin but communication was easy and keys were left in a lockbox. I would stay here again without hesitation.
We enjoyed our stay at this airbnb. Very clean, quiet, and comfortable. We would definitely recommend this apartment to others looking to be in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood. The location was excellent--on a quiet street near a major thoroughfare where you can get cabs and buses to all the major DC destinations.
The apartment is located in the basement level of a brownstone. The entry to this apartment is a bit tight, and can be tricky to navigate with big pieces of luggage. Also, the bed in the main bedroom is quite high off the ground. This apartment would not be accessible for someone with disabilities.
On the plus side, the apartment featured a washer/dryer and well-outfitted kitchen. Even some breakfast cereals! Lots of clean towels and bed linens. A great experience!!
Ben and Sheena were exceptional hosts and there beautiful private apartment was perfect for our family of three. Safe and practical for our 1.5 year old daughter. SUPER close to the metro, which makes traveling any where in the city a cinch. Zero reservations. We loved it!
Everything was ready for us, the flat was spotless, and everything worked just as we would have hoped. we liked the neighbourhood very much as it is quiet, convenient for north west Washington, near the columbia heights metro station for trips to town, and has several useful shops and restaurants. Ben and sheena did everything they could to help. the only criticism we had was that there was no bedside light in the bedroom and the overhead lighting is rather overwhelming
Ben is a DC native who works for the federal government. Sheena is a social justice attorney. One day they'll move back to the West Coast.
