We live in a restored house from the 1920s about 2 miles east of downtown. We have bikes available for rent for $5 a day per bike. We also live right on a bus line. We are a 10 - 15 minute walk to downtown, maybe a 5 minute bike ride.
There are two bedrooms in the house, each with a queen size bed (pictured in listing). In the living room our new couch is made out of a twin mattress and very comfortable for sleeping on.
Our house has a newly renovated kitchen, new washer/dryer, and a lovely bathroom.
In regard to transportation around Austin, Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Capital Metro) provides public transportation to the city, primarily by bus. Additionally, Austin is known as the most bike-friendly city in Texas and is also home to Car2Go, a carsharing program. Austin was chosen as the first city in the western hemisphere to host this company's business, which is based in Germany.
We have a small dog who wouldn't be in the house at the same time as you and don't smoke.
Just the basics: please be sure to lock up all three doors before leaving the house. Try to keep the doors to the outside shut because of bugs. Please smoke outside. Please clean up after yourselves.
Aleza was the sweetest, most generous and considerate host I've never met (due to scheduling conflicts mainly on my part). Nevertheless she completely went above and beyond to make sure our party of five had everything we needed during the whole stay and kept in touch with us even during her own anniversary night celebration. She answered all of our pre-trip questions with enthusiasm and detail that it made our trip in Austin a complete success. It really helps having a local by your side and Aleza is very knowledgeable about her city.
Her house has so much character in it we felt like it could tell a story. We had such a great time staying in it. We saw no issues with the location even when we returned wayyy past midnight and always felt safe. Without a doubt I would stay with her again and wish I find someone like her in all my future Airbnb stays.
Aleza and Jon were so accommodating. Between us arriving earlier than expected on a weekday afternoon to lending us their bicycles in a pinch to giving us directions, their flexibility and generosity made for an awesome experience. The home itself is so cute, and suited our needs perfectly (there were four of us staying here). The location can't be beat. It is incredibly convenient to downtown- walkable if you're up for a bit of exercise- as well as a number of very yummy restaurants and food trucks that seem to have made 11th street a pretty neat pocket of town. Our biggest regret is not having an extra day to wait in line at Franklin, which is literally a ten minute walk down the street, in order to try the legendary BBQ. There was a CVS down the street as well for the little things we forgot, and the airport was a $20 cab ride away. Thank you Aleza and Jon!
