  • My boyfriend and I recently stayed at Home on the Hill and we had a fantastic time. We loved being picked up from the airport it saves a lot of time with car rental places and Jen was so sweet and told us a lot of local knowledge about Kauai on the way to our room. Our room in the house, was colorful and charming. If you don't mind not having a separate bathroom, the toilet and shower were new and clean and the bed very comfortable. The now grown up pigs were cute and mischievous, and the goats were friendly. Dave's waterfall tour was the highlight of our trip, it was very special. He even video taped it and sent it to us straight away, which is above and beyond what we expected. Thank you for a lovely time.

  • The Home on the Hill was great -- great value, great setting, great location (convenient to so many Waikiki highlights). the room was comfortable and had all that we needed. We would have breakfast and dinner at "home" and eat lunch in whatever town we were visiting that day. We stayed for 7 nights and, because of the location, were able to go all over the island and not be very late getting back home. It was a great base from which to spend time all over the island. Dave and Jenn were friendly and helpful.

  • A wonderful view from the lanai! Clean and private, this self contained studio apartment was a joy. The guitar on the wall was a wonderful extra and the almost private beach was just a 12 minute walk through a remarkable neighborhood! Dave was a gracious and acommodating host. I highly recommend.

  • Very neat property with wonderfully helpful hosts. Before you start making plans- ask them about activities... they can help you with canoes, adventures, etc. I love airbnb as it provides you alternatives and gives you more options in your stay- it's nice to have a kitchen... and on this particular property it's nice that you are on a small farm! The pigs like apples by the way and the chickens produce fresh eggs. The walk to the beach is fun- you see a variety of trees/plants, birds, etc.- the beach is very secluded. You will need mosquito spray in these parts, so get some before you head to Kauai. I loved this area of the island- close to Kapaa town and right off the "highway". If you want a more down to earth and natural vacation experience- this is it. I am not fond of Princeville and all that resort type ickiness, it's okay to drive thru but I wouldn't want to stay there. Dave and Val were great- I recommend this property for sure (you can get a unit with AC if you want AC it is warm on Kauai- warmer than the other islands FYI).

  • It was a great stay. The place we stayed at was clean and quiet. We loved how beautiful the views were and having a fridge, microwave, pots, pans, and hot plate. The family was great and offered cool excursions, some for free and some for a good price. We also loved the location. We were smack in the middle of the island between the north shore and south shore, which meant we could get to everything in an hour or under. Plus, we were so close to Kapaa and that had great restaurants, plus choices of grocery stores, etc. We got an amazing deal on a car rental which meant the car was old with no power locks and roll down windows, which was fine for us. We would rather save money and have an older car that ran well. Everything went smoothly as we got picked up and dropped off from the airport, making it an easy transition. I would highly recommend this place.

  • The King Kong cottage was awesome and magical. I'm so glad I began my vacation here. This is a perfect place for the eco-friendly and the not so much. As a bit of a princess, I can confirm that the composting toilets definitely do not stink! The cottage was wonderful and I'd definitely stay there again. And if you like a bit of adventure, Big Wave Dave will definitely have it for you. We thoroughly enjoyed prawn fishing at night and only wish we could have caught more. This location is also closely located to a very down beat not too touristic town of Kapa'a. All in all great people, great times.

  • We had a wonderful time in the King Kong cottage. The house was great, the beach stunning and the island just perfect. Only backdrop when it rains the way to the cottage becomes rather muddy. Definitely a great experience!

  • The cottage my wife and I stayed at was comfortable, charming and had everything we needed during our vacation. The high speed internet and TV were actually nice at the end of a long day of hiking.

The real kicker was the full kitchen and the grill, restaurants on the island can be expensive and, to be honest, cannot compete with a home-cooked meal with everything you can get from the daily farmer's markets. The hosts made us feel welcome and at home. We would love to come again.

  • We had a wonderful time at the King Kong Cottage. The location has a very local feel and the cottage was charming and a wonderful place to stay.
We loved the kitchen and living area and it is centrally located
which allowed us to explore easily.

Dave and Jen were great to work with and very helpful. If we get a
chance to visit Kauai in the future you can bet we will try to stay here

Hi my name is Val. I started my company Aloha Auto Rentals with my wife to help travelers save money coming to Kauai. Many of my buddies said, " it was better for them to ride the bus or hitchhike cause the rental car companies are too expensive" and I said, "there must be a better way", so that is why we are here to provide you with affordable, reliable, great on gas, island cars which allow you to blend in with Kauai. I love to hike, play guitar, snorkel and scuba dive with my wife.......Long walks watching sunsets on the beach are the greatest with someone you love! Even Buddy our little dog likes to go with us. Please book the home first then once you are confirmed with the Home we will confirm you for the car rental separately from Airbnb. We have lots of cars to choose from 4 door economy cars, compact, mini vans and campers which are popular with many of my customers for obvious reason..... we do pick ups and drop offs from the airport. Prices per day may vary depending on the months, seasons, holidays. Always $30-$100 less than the companies at the airport. Let us know how we can assist you! Mahalo.
