About This Listing
This lovely house is a great opportunity to be near of the Centro. It is very secluded and private and has the most wonderful views over the city and the surrounding countryside. The rooms are full of light and has a lot of vertical space. It is a great place to live in, although it is not big, it is very open plan and the terrace is a real knockout at sunset. It is a three minute walk from the covered market ( a great place for breakfast or lunch) and only another five minutes to the cathedral.
It has one very big bedroom and on the second floor a 2nd bid space that could be used as a bedroom because it has to individual beds and/ or a huge studio with its own shower bathroom.
The house is very secure
The living room and dining area are on the ground floor connected to a good-sized kitchen and a guest bathroom
2 bath rooms and a guest bath room
Cleaning service one a week included.
Take care of the propertie as it would be your own place :-)
Eréndira was a delight to meet and was very accommodating to our needs, especially since we arrived in the early morning. The property was as listed, and we could not get enough of the spectacular view, day and night!!! It was conveniently located, very close to market and city center. Beds were comfortable with plenty of extra linens and blankets, as well as towels and toiletries. WiFi was good. Cable, t.v., and radio all a plus! Drinking water!! Yes!!
The downside was having to go through several doors to get to the house. If you have knee problems or small children, this is probably not be the place for you because of the stairs. I would have liked a more thorough cleaning prior to our arrival, but we aren't picky and were quite pleased with our stay.
Erendira Gordilla is an excellent host, who is accommodating and very helpful. For example, she helped to organize our ride from the airport and immediately provided us with a second heater and a new tank of propane during an unseasonable period of cold and rainy weather. The description of the house is accurate. Staying at Casa Piers represents good value for money, especially for a party of five, but make sure to bring some warm clothing during winter months.
Thank you John. It was very nice having you in Casa Piers. I´m sorry about the weather, usually it´s not that bad for that time of the year,,,,, but as you say in spanish: el hombre propone y Dios dispone,,,,
I´m happy you had a nice time any way.
Muchos saludos un gran abrazo a tu hermosa señora.
Erendira was very helpful. We really enjoyed her company. She provided us information that helped us greatly. Would definately recommend Her and what she represents in the way of rentals in San miguel.
First, what a charming place and what a charming hostess! All was exactly as advertised, although perhaps we were not QUITE prepared for the stunning views from the rooftop. Erendira, born in San Miguel, was the consummate landlady: met us at the door despite our arriving an hour earlier than planned, suggested a good taxi service from Leon, texted parade suggestions, kept the household stocked with the basics, etc. Had we needed more of her time, we felt sure she would have given it to us, graciously.
The place was a great fit for us, having read the thoughtful comments from previous visitors: It is wide open, those stairs might give the parents of toddlers pause, sound travels. If these things don't bother you, and you would enjoy a small yet breathtaking rooftop patio, a delightful interior courtyard under foliage, light filled interiors, a very short walk to the Centro, this may be perfect. Neighbourhood is picturesque- steep street has small stores for necessities, the wonderful mask museum is 2 doors up and the neighbours are charming. And you will never find a more inspiring view from a bathroom window- stunning!
It is wabi-sabi in the best way- imperfectly delightful.
Casa Piers was a great place to stay. It was charming with an amazing view and about 5-10 minutes walk to the Jardin. The outside garden is nice as well. The house is a little worn but clean. Do not expect perfection but, if you like a quirky flare and aren't too picky it is great.
The neighborhood is quiet with no street noise as the house is set back from the street and the street is not busy.
Erendira is a conscientious host and addressed our needs as they arose. Her maid was very thorough and fast. We would definitely stay here again.
We were appalled when we arrived at this house and saw that the entire place and many of the furnishings were in a serious state of disrepair. Some examples are broken kitchen window with shredded screen, deteriorating wood windows, metal window frames with caulking dried up and falling out, some of which couldn't be opened or had to be held closed with rope. More examples include walls losing plaster in places, bedroom drapes in shreds, leaking main floor toilet, poorly equipped kitchen. When we addressed these and other issues with the agent, she was responsive to our concerns, replacing much of the unusable equipment in the kitchen and the broken-down couch in the living room.
However, there was no way she could really take care of many of the issues with the house. That would require some major clean up and renovation. We did enjoy the home’s outdoor spaces and great location, which made up somewhat for the sorry state of the place, but we felt we were overcharged for what came to feel like a camp-out experience
If it were maintained, this house would work well for same-sex friends or one family with older children (wouldn’t work for young children as the stairs are completely open and could be treacherous.) In our case, the two couples sharing the space had virtually no privacy, since one must walk through the 2nd floor bedroom and climb an open stairway to reach the 3rd floor bedroom, and noises carried between the two bedrooms.
We’ve both rented places through AirBnB before and had good experiences, but the organization lost credibility on this one. After this experience we would be much more careful using this site and certainly wouldn’t rent without more client feedback than this home had. We went through the fine print on airbnb after arriving and seeing our rental, and there appears to be no recourse for the renter in a case like this.
