A charming 2 bedroom, oceanfront cottage on a large estate. A wonderful getaway by the sea. Please note that we are only able to rent by the week (Saturday to Saturday) or the month (please contact us for more information about monthly rentals).
Located on thirty acres of privately owned land shared with a family house and immediately adjacent to 300 plus acres of the Great Neck Wildlife Sanctuary, this charming cottage fronts directly on Buzzards Bay. The ocean waters here are warm and provide wonderful swimming and kayaking opportunities. Please note that we are only able to rent by the week (Saturday to Saturday) or the month.
The home is located at the end of a long private drive. It has two bedrooms (one queen bed, one double and one twin) and a pull-out sofa bed in the living room. All of the rooms are located on one level and the entrance is wheelchair-accessible. There is one bathroom, plus an additional outdoor shower. The entire cottage is newly renovated and there is a washing machine and dryer. There is no air conditioning but from the open windows you can hear the waves on the beach. Linens and towels are provided and there is a DVD player, cable, wireless internet and TV. There is no additional cleaning fee.
Relax on the large deck while you grill fresh fish and summer vegetables. Shopping, including large supermarkets and small produce markets, is located a few miles away in the town.
The cottage and a large sloping lawn in front are situated on a bluff featuring spectacular views looking south across the Bay. To the east is the entrance to the Cape Cod Canal with its interesting array of ship traffic while to the west, beautiful summer sunsets appear over Marion. The property includes its own shell/pebble beach protected by a breakwater.
For those who enjoy walking, there is ample opportunity on the well-marked paths of the Wildlife Sanctuary and local back roads. A public golf course is located a short distance from the property and there are numerous restaurants, shopping opportunities and other recreational facilities close by. Baseball enthusiasts can take in Cape Cod League games featuring the local Wareham Gatemen, seeing young talent as they progress to the major leagues. For history buffs, the famous whaling city of New Bedford is twenty minutes away and Plimouth Plantation is forty minutes away.
