  • This was our first time renting a room in a house with AirBnB and we were very pleased that we took this route. Gus and Reanne are welcoming hosts ad extremely attentive to their guests. Without any advance planning we were welcomed to join them for their family dinner - after a long day of driving with a toddler this was a lovely surprise. The king bed is very comfortable and the room is spacious. The shared bathroom is right down the hall with a great shower. We were also surprised by a delicious breakfast the next morning. We didn't have enough time to explore the SLO region but we took a nice walk into downtown in the morning which is only about 10-15 minutes walk.

  • We are delighted that we chose to stay with Gus & Raeanne. From the minute we arrived we were warmly welcomed into their home AND their family. We felt like long lost friends and relished talking with them and their daughter & her friends. The bed was comfortable, the room had everything we needed. Oh and they let us bring our little doggies!! They instantly felt right at home too. Gus and Raeanne are very interesting people providing a home filled with life, love, and laughter. And frankly that was just what we needed. Thank you!

    Response from Gus:

Jill Thank you for for kind works. We so enjoyed meeting you and look forward to your return. If of course, you bring the dogs. : )

  • Gus and Raeanne were incredibly welcoming! The room was lovely and the bed very comfortable. They were some of the most hospitable people I've met and so close to great wineries, beaches and breweries. Would love to stay again some time!

  • Gus and Raeanne were the most fun, welcoming hosts of my trip to the Mid-Central Coast. They were more than accommodating picking me up from the airport since my flight came in later than the rental companies. The room was cozy, the shower head amazing, bathroom large and luxurious. As cozy and warm as their home was, their demeanor and hospitality was the highlight for me!

  • Our experience at Gus and Rae's was nothing short of incredible. They are such wonderful hosts and delightful people...we enjoyed many meals and glasses of wine in their kitchen and by their fire. The pics, as great as they are, do the actual space no justice. Our room was very well appointed, we had plenty of space to unload for the weekend and the bed was fantastic.

The Thomassons have lived in SLO for some time and are, without a doubt, some of the most interesting people we've ever met. There are a ton of things to do in the area and we did all of them (wine tasting in Paso Robles, Templeton & SLO, relaxing at Avila and Shell beaches, enjoying the fantastic dining and nightlife options in downtown SLO (many of which are creekside)). However, you'd be remiss if you didn't have at least a few conversations over coffee or a cocktail with your hosts! They have such incredible life experiences to share and tons of knowledge about local gems that shouldn't be skipped. They are also avid musicians and may even treat you to a personalized jam session.

We couldn't have asked for a better location, better accommodations, or better hosts who consistently went above and beyond our expectations. We will without any doubt be back many times to enjoy this incredible area and the company of the Thomassons!

  • We always opt for an entire residence or apartment when we use Airbnb, but we couldn't be happier with our decision to stay with the Thomassons. They are wonderful hosts, and we almost felt as if we’d been adopted into fun-loving, (talented) musical family of the nicest and most interesting people.

The accommodations are lovely and exactly as pictured -- great bed and shower. The coffee is nothing short of amazing… perfect for jump-starting a fun-filled day in SLO or a trip to any of the neighboring beach towns or vineyards. Gus and Raeanna are both gifted cooks and served delicious, filling breakfasts, and they graciously invited us to a family dinner (which we would have gladly joined had the farmer’s market not fallen on the same night).

They’ve lived in SLO for forty years and will happily share their local knowledge with you, which includes some of the best wineries and restaurants in the area. We had an idea of what we wanted to do, but their insight and company helped us make the most of our time there. With a baby and dog it can take awhile for us to get moving, so this was especially valuable.

SLO is an absolute breath of fresh air. Beautiful scenery and the most polite and laid-back collective in California. As the happiest place in America, Gus and Rae represent it well and are truly generous people. We felt less like visitors and more as if we belonged there, and we would love to stay with them again.

  • Love Raeanna and Gus. The best hosts ever. Great hospitality! Went wine tasting with them all day, then to a great sushi dinner. Had cappuccino every morning and a great yogurt breakfast that Raeanna made with homemade granola she was cooking on the stove and fresh fruit and some really great cheese and crackers. They played great music and we had some amazing conversations with some amazing wine. They made us feel right at home. You are getting a lot more than you are bargaining for. Can't wait to go back and chat all over again with them soon. They live 3 minutes drive from town or you could easily walk. See you soon (and don't forget the mirror :))

  • We've used Airbnb a lot in the last few years, and this was by far our favorite and best experience! Gus and Raeanna are very laid back and make you feel like you're a part of the family. You can tell they love having guests and having people around. We really enjoyed using their professional-grade espresso machine and eating Raeanna's delicious homemade granola, as well as picking ripe figs from the tree in the backyard (in November!). They have a very sweet cat and dog that we loved spending time with. We also found the house to be very clean, the guest room spacious, and the king bed extremely comfortable. You won't find better hospitality in San Luis Obispo, and we are already looking forward to our next visit!

  • The Thomassons were wonderful hosts for our two nights, with a beautiful, eclectic home, garden, and lifestyle. My husband and I were included in a delicious household breakfast (great coffee, Gus!), and enjoyed visiting with the family and affectionate family pets (cat and dog). Bed was very comfortable.
