Outstanding hospitality
5 recent guests complimented Ralph for outstanding hospitality.
Sunny, cozy, 3-bedroom cottage on a quiet street beside a stream, big lawn, avocado, lemon, fig and peach trees, song birds. Five minute walk to the poncho market or central park. Full kitchen - cook your own meals if you like or walk 3 blocks or so for diverse restaurants. Unobstructed view of 16000 foot Imbabura volcano. Fiber optic Internet: 5MB up and 5MB down, suitable for videocalls and Netflix (to be honest, during times of high traffic it can be less than that).

The space
Friendly, helpful neighbors, play area for children, fresh air and tranquility so close to the center of Otavalo help make this an ideal place for nature-lovers, newlyweds, good friends, families and retired persons who want to spend a short or long time in Otavalo. Ideal for extended visits of a month or more. Large driveway for parking your vehicle. Lots of firewood and area suitable for campfires, weiner roasts and barbecues. To be honest, it is not always totally quiet. The neighbors have a sweet dog that barks occasionally, and a half a dozen pigeons sometimes hold meetings on the roof. However, we have never had problems with traffic noise, noisy neighbors or loud music.

Guest access
Guests have access to a washing stone, clotheslines, lawn area and fruit trees. The kitchen has an electric stove, microwave, toaster, popcorn popper, coffee maker, drinking water filter, pots, dishes and a refrigerator. There is a warm shower.

The house is on a quiet street in a residential neighborhood a few blocks from the center of town. There is a huge new fruit, vegetable and food market nearby. A small stream and green valley at the back of the property separate the neighborhood from the center of town. Our fig tree ensures that there's always an abundance of birds.

Married to Janet. Four multicultural kids. Studied chemical engineering. Works as a Spanish-English Interpreter/Translator. Loves gardening and making compost. I love to visit China where I have seven grandchildren. Kept bees for 25 years. My hobby is searching for good airfares and itineraries. Motto: If a community service is important to you, you need to support it. Spending money on your (or somebody else's) children is the best and safest investment you can make.
