The cabin was just as described and well appointed with with comfortable beds and had plenty of linens and towels...etc. The grounds were well kept and it was private yet close to Asheville and stores. Overall the cabin was spacious enough for a group of eight with a nice deck.
The listing description was dead on, and the cabin was absolutely beautiful. We comfortably slept everyone in our group. Extra towels and toiletries were provided. It was about a $20 Uber ride from downtown. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing place not far from downtown.
Black Bear Lodge was a great fit for a group of guys for the weekend. We were only 10 minutes from downtown Asheville. The cabin was comfortable and reminded me of a lake house I stayed at as a child. Maria checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed and was a gracious host. The only negative would be the number of stink bugs, but that is certainly not the fault of the hosts. I would not hesitate staying at the same cabin for a group of guys to sit around, play cards and watch football.
Overall, this is a pretty nice place to stay, but unfortunately, there were just a combination of factors that didn't quite work for us. We had six adults and one six month old baby in the cabin, so the paper thin walls and the fact that you could hear the people in the room beneath you as clearly as if they were in your room were two of the biggest challenges. Another challenge was sleeping in the upstairs bedroom furthest to the right (above the master bedroom); it was crawling with stinkbugs. They would fly around at night and land on us - we couldn't sleep. We would try to kill as many as we could, but the baby was in the room below us, so we couldn't really walk around or make noise which was impossible. We ended up sleeping on the couches the last night so that we could actually get some sleep.
But honestly, besides those two things, the house was great. It's a good size, there were plenty of cooking utensils, there was plenty of seating, and it was in a great location. Parking was a slight challenge with three cars. The staff was great, though. Very friendly and they stopped by to make sure we had everything we needed. If your circumstances are different than ours were, this may be the perfect cabin for you.
We are so sorry about the stink bugs, we have been waging war against them but they are terribly resilient and plentiful this year. We will win!!!
Yes, the Black Bear Lodge is rustic, along with all the historic cabins at the Log Cabin Motor Court. It can be a challenge with a baby in the house.
Thanks for your feedback and we're glad enjoyed your stay and the staff looked after you well.

We loved this cabin! In truth, it was a bit more rustic than we had imagined, but it was cozy and exactly what we needed. Perfect size for 4 couples, it was a wonderful location and easy to find. We would absolutely stay here again! The only thing to consider when booking is that the walls are very thing, so privacy is a factor- you can easily hear the person speaking in the downstairs bedroom at a normal volume when you are in the upstairs bedroom above them. But as long as everyone is on a similar sleep schedule, it is a perfect place to stay! We really enjoyed ourselves.
Plenty of room for our group of ten adults and two dogs. Large, open gathering area and dining area was perfect for us. The sofa bed is very noisy, so don't plan on that for sleeping. In general, a very quiet place in February. However, route 26 runs directly above and behind the lodge.
The cabin was very cute and easily accommodated our party of 8. It was only about a 15 minute drive into Asheville to go exploring. The check in and check out process was very easy!
