Being one of the oldest cities in Indonesia, Yogyakarta has many heritage buildings and monuments. The number one must-see attraction is Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono's palace, better known as Kraton Ngayogyakarta. Other heritage buildings from colonial era are: BNI '46 building, Kantor Pos Besar (Central Post Office) building, and Bank Indonesia building, all of them are located near Sultan's palace.
Yogyakarta is a heaven of inexpensive foods, and some tasty and filling dishes can be had for as low as US$0.25. There are hundreds, if not thousands of hawker stalls offering inexpensive foods.
Yogyakarta is a relatively small city, so travelling around town should not be too expensive. If you are traveling on foot, note that a street sign facing you at a corner indicates the name of the street you are entering, not the cross street. The Tourism Authority has maps in English that can be obtained from its offices next to Hotel Mutiara on Jl. Malioboro, at the airport and the train station. Beware that these maps are not to scale.
We enjoyed our stay at tiga lima! The stuff was very friendly, helpful and there was the possibility to rent a motorbike. We liked the location, it was quiet but you could access everything easily by motorbike. The room was comfortable and clean.
We can recommend this stay and have already returned for a second stay.
Tiga Lima is a basic Indonesian Homestay or losmen. Unfortunately I wouldn't call this Deluxe in anything but size. Sparsely furnished and decor and maintenance very tired. The bed was comfortable but the sheets were quite stained. The room is very dark. You need to have the lights on at any time of the day. An adequate breakfast each day. The best thing was the friendly staff at the front desk who were very helpful and obliging. It is fairly impersonal place though it is at the end of a fairly quiet lane but close to shops, main roads etc. Compared to other Airbnb s in Indonesia that I have stayed at this is not fantastic value for money or for attention to detail.
We really enjoyed our stay at Tigalima. It's excellent value & well located (although tricky to find for taxi drivers!). The room was nicely furnished - large and comfortable, with a decent sized porch. The area is quiet but only a few minutes walk to shops and restaurants.
Sela's staff were so helpful and extremely friendly, giving us a hand with ordering food for delivery and booking taxis.
We'll certainly be back and can wholeheartedly recommend staying here.
I did not end up staying long at the Homestay as I became quite ill and decided to move to a hotel with a bathtub. The room had all of the amenities listed, including a nice outdoor seating area. It was more basic than I expected. This is a great place for young people, in spirit, location and value. the staff were kind and helpful with all of my inquiries.
We had a wonderful stay and a very good night's sleep in this beautiful place, starting with a warm welcome. It was more than nice to talk to Sela who was friendly and helpful. Our bedroom was great with a comfortable bed. If I wouldn't have booked the next station of our travel long time ahead, I had preferred to stay longer! Would highly recommend staying here.
