No pets, no smoking, large vehicles discouraged, price for popular weekends may be higher
The Castro is a village (remember the Village People?), we are all about community and acceptance and love to share our own unique stories and lifestyles. The neighborhood has changed a lot over the years. Its been the home to many groups of people (including the Swedes...Cafe Du Nord) and of course is best known today for it's Gay Pride. There is a reason it's called "gay" because it's about being happy and loving life! We do that in the Castro:)
There is ample public transportation from the Castro. The main underground Muni line has a stop right there under the big rainbow flag. Also you've got the historic F trains that take you to Hayes Valley, downtown, to the Ferry Building and Fishermans Wharf along Market -- so you can take in all the interesting SF sights.
The 24 Divisadero also goes along Castro (Castro turns into Divisadero going North) which will take you to the lower Height, hopping NOPA and all the way over to chic Pacific Heigths and then down to the Marina towards Chrissy Field.
Walking is always recommended though cause you will get a nice work out and really take things in!
Being that this is a sanctuary, it's customary to behave in a calm and peaceful manner. No parties or loud music/TV please. This is your opportunity to get out of the bustle and recharge...so you can get out there and discover the magic of San Francisco!
Great place! Quite, clean and beautiful apartment located away from the street with a view on a nice and green garden. The location is perfect - everything can easily be reached by public transport. Maria is a great host and very helpful!
From the start Maria was gracious and accommodating. She was on her way to Europe but took her time to be sure everything had back up before she left. Once we arrived we were so delighted! The unit is on the second floor in the back of a typical San Francisco apartment so there was no noise from the street and a lovely garden view from the dining table. The house is furnished with a great kitchen and the linens were lovely. The house has a very Scandinavian feel to it. There was everything you would need, but not cluttered. The location is on Castro and the 24 makes getting ANYWHERE easy...even for those who are public transportation shy.
All said, it doesn't get any better than this.
Maria was very accomodating. We arrived early and she was able to get us in earlier than 3 pm which was great. The description was accurate and the neighborhood was as we expected it. Her home was perfect - clean, warm, inviting and uncluttered.
Maria was very quick to reposed and available by phone and text for any questions. The place is perfect: location, cleanliness, and was a welcome respite from exploring wonderful San Francisco.
This is heaven. It's smack in the middle of all the action but it's so quiet and serene and peaceful. Maria was wonderful--attentive to all the details and helped us with everything we needed. The place is comfortable, clean and homey. The garden is back is an oasis. Not a single even slightly negative thing to report. Just right!
I loved Marias place! It is super clean, extremely quite and in an excellent location. I was in San Francisco as a tourist and coming back here at the end of a long day was a dream. It was so quiet and I could just order a pizza and chill on the couch. Very comfy bed too. Maria is super nice and easy to get a hold of. I will definitely stay here again when i am back in town!
Well it's now my third time in Maria's place and as usual everything was perfect ! This place is great, well decorated and easygoing. You'll find everything you need at walking distance and if you have a car you can take advantage of a garage which is a good thing in SF. If you need something Maria is very disponible and helpfull. Definitly will return on my next opportunity.
