Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
We are only taking month or more reservations until future notice. This country craftsman schoolhouse has 4 renovated 750 Sq. ft classroom lofts, each with it's own private back entrance. I guess there's no need to tout the perks of this place, being in a park setting, totally removed from any living soul with acres and acres to stroll and explore. For 3 day prior to your arrival, the place will remain empty and soulless after it's covid cleaning, to assure there isn't a live germ in the place

The space
This is a no shoe room and we ask guests to respect the space accordingly. Built in 1900 this Craftsmen's 4 room School House is located in the midst of one of the most gorgeous historic cemeteries in all of America, and a short 7 minute walk into town. Tailored after the cemeteries in Europe, it was created as a park to entice visitors. Many Hudson River School Painters made this their final resting place as well as famous inventors and titans of Industry. It is verily like walking through a 3 D history lesson.
This particular room is our pride & joy. Built around a 18th century Opium Wedding bed, it is an artistic blend of Asian and contemporary design. We made the bathroom & kitchen out of steel & frosted glass.
We feel it is truly a spiritual space in complete harmony with the natural beauty of the surrounding park/cemetery.

I love that this place is a haven, a quiet place for contemplation, writing or artful pursuits and that it is a 10 minute walk to Warren street and all its delights!!! This place is also IDEAL for the athletic. There are miles of winding paths everywhere....
FOR OUR WINTER GUESTS: a 10 minute walk in Winter can feel more like an hour when it's bitter cold. Remind whoever greets you to show you the shortcut through the cemetery and think twice about not just getting a taxi to Warren. its only a 2 minute drive ....

As a local who can't always afford to take out a second mortgage to pay for a dinner on Warren... my favorite restaurant is (for TAKE OUT ..not much ambience)is Taste of The Caribbean, right down the hill on the Square next to the St Charles. It's the best bang for your buck. $15 for a plate of food you'll be finishing the next morning with your eggs ..Curry Goat, pulled or Barbequed chicken and Oxtail. SO good. BUT and THIS IS IMPORTANT:
ask Anne Marie when you walk in, if she can accommodate you within 7 minutes, and that you are in a hurry.. otherwise you might be there on Caribbean Time ;) There is also The Hudson Curry House if you like Indian... but it is on Fairview Ave, so you'd have to drive or cab it.. but it's only minutes away.
I also LOVE Le Gamin Country right on Warren, and that place is worth every penny, Ive never had a bad meal there and ambience is wonderful.

During your stay

We are here in the Summer and one of my Cockatoos feels it is his business to meet every single living soul who enters the building. If you could humor him that would be nice. In the Winter you're on your own cause we birds fly the coop to warmer skys
****Im afraid none of this applies now, we are chicken & are going to stay down south till this whole thing blows over, but I will do all I can to help you have a great visit, from afar!!!
