The apartment is a splendid,modern-looking experience in white. The flat screen TV, the marbled rooms, the tiled bathroom are all very 21st century. Its location is very central - it took me about 10 minutes to walk from the bus, through the essentially traffic-free center of Valetta to the apartment. Food essentials can be found in a family-based grocer around the corner, and more fancy goods at he improbably named Chelsea Stores on the main drag. But the plumbing needed a little attention - i had to request hotter water in the shower (my first cold shower ever) and I had to be told that the A/C was the source of heat (this was December) and i had to figure out myself how to turn the thing on, which was more luck than expertise. The entrance way to the building (not in the control of Andrei) was bleak and essentially pitch black at night, so be careful you don't break your neck, and the apartment is a decent workout several floors up. When I requested help, it was immediate and good humored.
Use St. Mark Street, parallel to the main Republic Street, to avoid steps, and to have an easier walk to and from St. Nicolas Street to the center of town.
