  • Phil is just a great host. He knows Maui very well and gave us really good suggestions to get around. He is living on a beautiful property. The house and each room are very clean and we had the best time on Maui at his place.

  • Phil has been a very good host for the 2 nights I have stayed at his place. He makes you feel at home instantaneously. He gave me advices when I need them (e.g. good windsurfing place depending on the wind conditions). He was also ready to help and found a way to host my friends on very short notice.

His place is very welcoming with a large living room, dining room and open kitchen. The slipping room and shared bathroom are simple and clean and this is all I needed. The house sits in a beautiful property with huge and very well maintained garden. It's off the beaten roads, very quite and gives you immediately the tropical island feeling.

  • Our stay with Phil was wonderful. The place is homey with the presence of chickens, papaya and orange trees and lots of room to wander outdoors. The home is spacious and I felt like I was at home...with laundry facilities, a large kitchen, dining and living room. I even used the large outside porch as a place to work on my painting.
Phil has a wonderful sense of humor and is always willing to share resources (like beach chairs, snorkelling gear, beach towels, etc.)
It was my first time staying at an airb&b and will certainly not be my last.
Thank you, Phil for your generosity and for making us feel at home. It was a treat meeting you and staying in your beautiful home. I also liked meeting the other guests who stayed there too. I hope to return....mahalo, Olivia (Venus)

  • Phil is a nice person and he has a nice home in a quiet area. There is however room for improvement. Things were not that clean. The room I slept in was not vacuumed and it could have used a good overall cleaning. My blanket was so stained and unattractive (though it may have been washed but looked awful) I went out and bought a new blanket to use. There was a lot of dirt on the lamp and the walls need a paint job. The refrig. was also not clean. It would have been nice if at least tea and or coffee was offered as well as a few books for people who forgot to bring one to read or site seeing books made available.

    Response from Phil:

Nancy and her girlfriend Maggie stayed in my home for 3 nights visiting on short notice from the big Island. They didn’t want to sleep in the same bed (full) and asked if anything else was available. I set up another twin bed in my office to accommodate them ($20 extra a night) so they could sleep in separate beds. In fact I built the bed frame that week specially for their visit. After Nancy checked in I didn’t see them very much as they were out late at night and leaving my home very early in the morning to tour Maui.
I’m a little shocked by Nancy’s review of my room and home. I pride myself on having a clean, clutter free and organized home. This is backed up by the majority of my reviews, as well as friends and family who visit me from afar and neighbors. I clean something at least once a day and I have cleaners come in twice a month for a big clean.
When you enter my home in the main living area on the desk, there are many brochures, maps and a Maui guide book available for all guests. Perhaps this was overlooked by Nancy and her friend Maggie.
There is also a book shelf in my great room with at least 40 reading books which are for the pleasure of ALL guests. Another over site by Nancy.
Perhaps the blanket does have a stain but it’s a very good quality all “wool “ blanket and it was recently dry cleaned. I pride myself on providing the best comfort and experience for my guests and always encourage people to speak up when something could be improved or they are not happy.
All kitchen amenities are provided including a coffee machine and kettle for boiling water, however since I don’t’ drink coffee or tea and most people have their personal preferences; I leave it up to my guests to provide their own coffee and tea.
I'll welcome back Nancy anytime to my home. Thanks. Phil.

  • Great space/house on a open lot. House is in clean condition and near some cool places on Maui.

Follow Phil's directions and the place is pretty easy to get to. The route recommended by GPS is a little more tricky.

About
I live a healthy and very active life style here on Maui. I raised my daughter in this home and now she's off to college, so I'm welcoming friends and guests. I'm a former professional World Champion Windsurfer as well as 2010, 2012 and 2013 Overall USA National Windsurfing Champion. After my full time windsurfing career I picked up running and triathlon as a new sport. Since 2006, I'm a 6 time Ironman (triathlon) finisher, including the famous Hawaii Ironman triathlon on the Big Island, and 14 marathons under my belt and (an easy) 10 half Ironmans. Maui is the place to be to have a career in windsurfing and to be in the ocean and enjoy nature. I'm a self employed business owner, MauiSails is my company. I'm well connected here on Maui and can help you with all activities, including private windsurfing lessons. Born and raised in Sydney, Australia. I've lived on Maui for over 27 years, with 23 years on this property. I'm very clean and organized. Don't drink or smoke. I have no pets. I have an outgoing personality, a little goofy at times. I love meeting new people from all over the World.
