The neighborhood was nice with ample parking on the street and in the back near the alley. Close to a great pizza place and the popular Mag Bar. A short walk to downtown, and a 10 minute cab ride. Stuart was more than cooperative when we told him that we would have our dog with us. There is a fenced in backyard that is very convenient if you do have a dog. When I needed Stuart to be available for check-in he was and responded immediately.
We had a great experience with Stuart. He was super-accommodating and very responsive. We literally booked the place for an entire month the night before we arrived - which happened to be the same day he was leaving town! But, he still made it work for us. The building is one of the many gorgeous old buildings in the Old Louisville neighborhood. He has 2 apartments in it, and has done a lot of remodeling. The upstairs place is completely redone, very nicely, while the downstairs we stayed in is a little older, but has had some updates as well and is very comfortable (and cheaper).
The neighborhood has a few nice places to walk to - coffee at Smokey's Bean, dinner and\or drinks at Amici, The Mag Bar, and a convenience store. You can also walk up to U of L (and Quills coffee). Beyond that you'll either want a car or use bus or cabs. About a $10 cab ride gets you downtown\NuLu or over to the Highlands where there are more bars\restaurants.
One last note... if you come to Louisville, make sure to check out either The Urban Bourbon Trail (in bars in the city), or the original Bourbon Trail (around the state at the distilleries). Or... both, like we did!
This was my first experience with Airbnb, and Stuart was a wonderful host. He walked me though making sure everything was setup for my trip. I would absolutely recommend renting from Stuart.
The apartment was clean, wonderfully furnished and centrally located about a mile walk from downtown. Large comfortable bed, all of the appliances you would expect and even located in beautiful Historic Old Louisville. I will definitely rent from Stuart again.
Stuart was very helpful from the beginning with booking the apartment and also responded to our requests very quickly while we were staying there. The apartment is large for a one bedroom and very clean. The location can't be beat - within walking distance to downtown and the University of Louisville. It's also very close to Church Hill Downs. I highly recommend using this apartment while your stay in Louisville!
This is an extremely cool apartment! Huge, clean apartment with a beautiful private backyard in back. Stuart was a gracious host who went out of his way to make us as welcome and comfortable as possible. Best rental choice we've found via the internet... can't wait to come back for another visit!
My girlfriend and I were looking for a place to stay at the last minute, and we lucked in to Stuart's gorgeous home in Old Louisvile. Gorgeous architecture and beautiful neighborhood made this a great choice.
