We are living in an amazingly spacious apartment that is full of personality with an Asian twist. We always bring back art and things to remind us of each travelling adventure we have been on.
We have a bedroom available which will accommodate 2 people in a comfortable double bed. We have a large living area with two living rooms and a kitchen, all of which you can use as if it were your own home while you are here. We also have wifi which is free for you to use during your stay. There is also access to hairdryer, straighteners, iron etc.
We are living near the Marina which is a walkway that leads the ships from the Cork port out to the Atlantic Ocean. Around the corner there is also a beautiful pond with loads of wildlife and birds. On Sunday you can take a short walk to buy your fresh and delicious breakfast from the Blackrock Farmers Market. Further up from this market is a Castle which has been renovated into a restaurant and an observatory. Local amenities include a shop, pharmacy, post office, a pub and a bank.
We are on a bus route to the city centre or if you are feeling energetic you can walk to town it as it is only 15-20 mins (depending on your walking pace!)
We would consider ourselves to be artistic and musical people who love meeting new people and learning about new cultures. We speak English around the house and we also use Sign Language.
If we are free we are able to provide a collection service from the airport for a reduced fee of €10.
Free Wifi and full use of kitchen and living area.
Interaction with Guests
Depending on working hours we are usually around. If we are here we are more than happy to give you advice on where to eat/drink and cool things to see and do.
The bus is right outside the front door and it takes your right into the city centre or the opposite direction to Mahon Point shopping centre which has an IMAX cinema, Nandos and lots of retail stores.
The only rule is to to clean up after yourself. Put plates into dishwasher etc. There will always be an empty cupboard for you to put some groceries in, as well as space in the fridge so that you can store some milk etc.
Should you be staying a few days, we enjoy cooking dinner for friends and if you would like we'd love to sit with you some evening and cook for you and perhaps you in turn would cook us your favourite meal.
Keira and Ronan are really nice people and they make you feel welcome. The atmosphere inside the house is really kind of young room-mates. The bedroom is OK, the common bathroom could be improved for more comfort, as well as carpets. I was a bit surprised to find nobody home when I arrived but we found a way by calling Ronan to his work. Nice stay globally.
Thank you for your review. As this is a rented property we are not able to replace any carpets or do work on bathroom. I believe that it is your responsibility to let us know when you are arriving so that we can make arrangements with you. No one has ever just turned up at our door before and this was a big surprise for us too.
Ronan was my initial contact and was welcoming and efficient
ciara and Ronan were very friendly and open about themselves and their home and lives
they are interesting people with Strong creative outgoing personalities
I was invited to join them for dinner and stayed up much later than intended to
its over a great little shop and deli with excellent local artisan products almost a good reason to continue staying
Nice room and nice house! We felt as at home.
We were travelling with our babygirl and in the room there was enought space for her cradle. Ronan and Keira were nice and didn't apply additional fee for the "third guest"!
Good position, not far from downtown, shop on doorstep as bus stop, the bathroom is shared but big and clean.
We had a very pleasant stay.
The host Ronan was amazing.
From the first meeting he was friendly and with a smile on his lips.
The listing was exactly as describe with everything you would need.
Not to far from town (about 5-10 in bus) and close enough for the big business parks to be in a pleasant walking distance.
Keira and Ronan have a nice home indeed and I really liked the area. It is far enough from the city to get some rest, and close enough to walk. The room offers fantastic views and the large kitchen area invites to hang-out, to chat and relax. I will surely consider booking again when I am visiting Cork. Thanks you two.
My fiancée and I are a couple of casual backpackers from the US. We stayed two nights here and we had a great experience. Keira was volunteering abroad, but Ronan was a friendly, and accommodating host on his own. He picked us up at the bus station, and provided information on how to best use our time in Cork. We shared one bathroom with some other travelers, but we had our own room, and the accommodations were more than adequate. Downtown Cork is a quick bus ride away, and the stop is just outside the front door. It wouldn't be a bad walk, but we found no reason to try it.
This is Keira and I have an obsession with Asia! I love all things Asian and would love to live in Bali or Vietnam some day. I enjoy travelling to meet new people and experience new cultures and I am constantly looking at flights even when I can't afford them! In 2012 I beat a Guinness World Record for the Most People Bodypainted. That certificate is one of my favourite possessions. I enjoy challenging myself to do things that are a little outside the box. I love to read and if
given the time I will read at least a book at day. I am currently studying Counselling and Psychotherapy and Sign Language.
Ronan is obsessed with music and can cook the best mash potatoes in Cork. He loves reading books about spirituality and also enjoys football and boxing. He has basic French and his vocabulary becomes increasingly impressive after a glass of white wine! Ronan loves to play guitar and if you are able to play, he would happily sit and jam with you until you want to leave the house and explore Cork!
We use both English and Sign Language around the house and love to welcome anyone with an open mind and and those who have an eagerness to learn about different ideas, thoughts and cultures. If the time is available we love to get to know our guests and learn all about and your life but should we all be too busy, we will still enjoy the quick chat in the kitchen in the mornings!
