There is a shared kitchenette in the main house with frig and small microwave.
There is a coffee maker in the room, free wifi, a fountain in the courtyard and one on the private patio.
Oso is a pet friendly room. There is a $16/visit pet fee. For pets, we can do only dogs, no cats - sorry. So many people have really severe allergies to cats and we do have a regular bed and breakfast clientele as well, so need to limit to dogs.
Each room is decorated in unique southwestern design. There are courtyards and patios for watching the magical New Mexican sunrises and sunsets. Three sets of mountains are visible from the large back patio - in NM, TX and Mexico.
We have a four-legged concierge dog, Peanut who loves visiting with guests and guiding them on walks in the desert. Because of our desert location, we have desert wildlife all around us - quail, roadrunners, hummingbirds, and yes rattlesnakes, scorpions and other fun guys. We ask that guests respect the natural life and keep themselves and other guests safe by keeping doors closed.
Private room & patio, common living room and kitchenette, dining room, extensive patio and courtyard space.
Interaction with Guests
I love chatting with people from all over the world, and am more than willing to share what I know about this area with recommendations for things to do, places to eat etc.
We are in a very quiet community that is next to public land, so there is lots of hiking available, and there are 2 horse stables for riding with 1 1/2 miles. Within an hour there are historical plazas - Mesilla NM and shopping, rock climbing, petroglyphs, baseball - El Paso Chihuahuas, Ciudad Juarez, Palomas Mex - Pink Store for shopping, several wineries along Hwy 28 and many other things to do.
Our B&B is located just outside El Paso (15 minutes) in a rural residential neighborhood that is on the edge of open desert. Because of our rural location, guests need to have their own transportation as there is no public transport available. This setting is perfect for travelers wanting a quiet peaceful setting in the desert instead of the usual hotel/motel scene. However, the last miles is gravel road which can be bumpy, not suitable for bikes or motorcycles.

This was an amazing experience. Marlene was a gracious host who made us feel welcomed from the beginning to the end. We only stayed one night but this experience will surely bring us back for another stay. The view and accommodations were wonderful. The location has a wonderful energy and is great for meditation and spiritual introspection. I would highly recommend Casa de Suenos for the location and for the great interactions with Marlene!
Marlene was a wonderful host! Unfortunately my trip was quick so we didn't get to meet in person but Marlene was very communicative and made sure I was well taken care of. My dog and I loved the private patio and entrance for our room. I over the decor and felt everything was very well looked after! There was even a sweet note and a big hug of water for me after having been on the road all day. Would love to stay here again!
Oh my goodness. I loved this little place. It's too cute. Everyone's separate, but it's so homey. Love Marlene, she's so sweet.
Marlene was very easy to communicate with--very helpful along the way with check in, arrival etc information. We ended up arriving very late and she made sure we found our way, left a much appreciated ice water pitcher in the room for us, etc. Quiet and charming location. Loved the red blanket-covered ceiling in the Oso room!
Marlene is a gracious hostess, and delightful to visit with, as is her dog peanut! They allowed me to go for a walk with them in the desert after breakfast, and that was a real treat. I stayed for one night in the Oso room, and loved it. The bed and linens were very nice, and the room large and comfortable.
This is the ideal place to stay when visiting the El Paso area, and so much more special and personal than a hotel. Casa de Suenos is a mile or two down a wide, well-maintained dirt road, and has a beautiful view of the city and mountains. I wish I had stayed longer, and had time to watch the sunset from her large back porch. I would stay again in a heartbeat!
Marlene's place is one of the best I have ever been to! This is the real desert experience, and Marlene is such a warmhearted and welcoming person. Her house is even more beautiful than displayed in the picture and it feels so good to spend the end of the afternoon, facing the fantastic vista from the terasse. I wish I could have stayed there longer, having breakfast chatting with Marlene. Thank you so much and take good care!
A wonderful and authentic New Mexico B&B and Marlene was a delightful and thoughtful hostess. Peanut was cool too! We will definitely be back to stay at this oasis!

About the Host, Marlene
For the last 10 years, my husband and I have been running a Bed and Breakfast - Casa de Suenos, on the edge of open desert in a residential community in NM, but just outside El Paso TX.
I enjoy meeting people from all over the world and since I don't get to travel any more, I love hearing the stories from our guests.
I maintain the house and 3 acres our B & B is built on. That is a pretty full time job, but I enjoy making the grounds a true desert experience for our guests.
In terms of guests, we have had the most wonderful guests at our B & B. We are pretty laid back and live in a quiet residential area in the middle of the desert. We appreciate guests who like to connect with nature, are respectful of mother earth and appreciate the quiet of the desert.
