We enjoy interaction with our guests if they so desire.
Completely rural on most beautiful road famous around the world for bicycle trips towards the Pacific coast . Quiet, artistic neighbors. Acres of space on all sides before next homes. 6 friendly Arabian horses in adjacent pasture. 5 minutes to historic downtown Petaluma and centrally located for short drives to all Sonoma county wine areas, the ocean and San Francisco.
No public transportation here. Plenty of parking on site and short car or bike ride to transportation in downtown Petaluma.
In the 1970's this property was Swallowtail Studios, a famous glass blowers cooperative. The Grateful Dead played in the barn and hung out here...their manager lived just down the road. The barn is redwood, quite large and beautiful, with stained glass windows. It's suitable for events and is available for an extra fee.

Bill and Michelle offer the most interesting accommodations we've ever stayed in. A truly peaceful experience. A warm up in the hot-tub before bedtime set the stage. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and with night as black as ink, we slept like babies. A tasty breakfast and delightful conversation with our hosts and the two other guests simply made us regret that we had such a short stay; we look forward to returning when we can.
Planned a trip to Sonoma with my girlfriend and wanted to stay at a unique and memorable location. Michelle and Bill's cottage definitely accomplished both of the above. What an escape! My girlfriend even commented at one point that the whole setting felt like a fairy tale. To top it off, Michelle and Bill were wonderful hosts. They bring the "B" back to AirbnB. Breakfast of eggs and french toast were made to order in the morning, and the I don't believe I've had a better fruit salad. Have stayed about over a dozen places on Airbnb at this point, and not many have offered a proper breakfast, and none have come close to Michelle and Bill's place. I highly recommend checking them out!
I stayed at the treehouse for 6 nights and as the first solo long term guest it was a beautiful adventure. My first night two owls had a wonderful conversation high in the trees. Breakfast was always lovely. Bill and Michelle are very attentive to even the smallest need. I will defintely stay there again in the future. The studio is also delightful with a majestic heated bed and hot tub under the stars.
I booked this fantastic listing for my sister and her boyfriend who were visiting from the east coast. They absolutely loved their stay. Here is what they had to say...
"We had a great stay at the Indonesian cottage! It is located on a beautiful property, only a few minutes from downtown Petaluma. Michelle and Bill were kind and welcoming hosts, and even served a lovely breakfast of fresh fruit, juice, and coffee in the morning. There is a jacuzzi on the deck, which overlooks the beautiful landscape. The bed in the cottage had a heated mattress pad and is one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in! The space was clean and cozy. I would definitely recommend this listing!"
I hope to get there soon myself!
Quiet, comfortable, beautiful and warm. A perfect relaxing getaway. Michelle and Bill were very welcoming and breakfast was delicious. Love the art, the sound of the cows and the view from the deck.
Cheers, Amy and Rodney

The Indonesian cottage is elegant and rustic- some do not believe this is possible, but I love the combination. Michelle and Bill are so warm and they seem to authentically like having company. I love Michelle's sense of self- she says it like it is, funny and sweet.
This place has a funky artistic energy- you can really feel that it has some old hippy influences.
We really had a good time. Thank you!
Bill and Michelle were warm and welcoming front he get go. The property is beautiful and has such an interesting history. I will definitely be back soon!
Very relaxing stay at Michelle and Bill's cottage. So relaxing that we ended up sleeping through breakfast--the heated bed is THAT awesome! Would definitely like to come back and check out the treehouse sometime.
I searched Airbnb for a nice place to book a weekend getaway as a relaxing gift for a friend. I wanted a place with a comfortable bed and a nice, deep bathtub. The Indonesian Cottage at Swallowtail Historic Art Studios exceeded my wildest expectations!
This place is so beautiful, It reminded me that the world is full of wonders waiting for me to discover! The bathroom is a magical wonderland, with a gorgeous stained glass window.
The hosts, Bill and Michelle, were very helpful in creating the best possible experience for my friend. I was glad that I got to meet them too, and I got to enjoy breakfast with Michelle, who showed us some of her wonderful art around the house. I also enjoyed exploring the grounds.
I was completely thrilled with this place, and would recommend it to anyone.
