Welcome to Sunning Hill!
A beautiful escape right in the heart of Ontario's Muskoka region. We are less than two hours from Toronto, but when you arrive at our island, you'll be worlds away from the city bustle.
The property features three buildings; the main cottage, the bunky and the boathouse. The main cottage has three bedrooms and one washroom, featuring a private entrance for the master bedroom.
Cozy and comfortable, the kitchen and living area will provide anything you might need for a relaxing retreat with friends or family.
The bunky can sleep an additional four people and the boathouse is right on the water, featuring a mini-bar and full-size fridge and freezer.
Sitting on two-acres of land and overlooking gorgeous 6-Mile Lake, we encourage our guests to get outside and enjoy the sounds of loon calls from the end of the dock.
We have canoes onsite and can arrange for up to three kayaks to be available as well. We have a ping pong table in the bunky as well as a LED projector for movie nights and loads of board games.
Please bring your own towels and linens. If you need an exception made to this rule, please let us know and we can discuss.
Interaction with Guests
Once you confirm your booking, we will send you our complete Cottage Guide, outlining all the amenities and details of the cottage itself.
We will meet you at the marina upon arrival, bring you to the cottage and give you a tour of the property. Throughout your stay, we are available by phone and text. Neil's parents, Paul and Robbie, live across the bay year-round. Should you need anything at all, they will also be able to help out.
Our cottage is boat-access only. We are a 3 minute boat ride from the marina. As part of your rental, we will be there to pick you up and drop you off. Our boat is not included in the rental.
Alternatively, if you have your Ontario boating licence, boats are available to rent at the Six Mile Lake marina. If you're interested in this, let us know and we'll help you get it set up.
Once you confirm the amount of people, we can decide what will best suit your needs timing-wise and ensure you have a lovely and uncomplicated stay.
Other Things to Note
Our cottage has clean drinking water - no need to bring your own. There is a special faucet for drinking water in the kitchen next to the sink.
We ask that you do not bring additional guests without our explicit permission. There are neighbours onsite who can help you should you need anything during your stay. Please no smoking indoors and no fires on the property (inside or out).
Please ensure constant supervision of both adults and children while swimming and use extra caution when drinking alcohol.
Please treat our home as you would yours and most of all, enjoy and relax!
Amazing cottage and great hospitality. Great place to relax. Cottage is in great condition and enjoyed every minute
This is our 2nd year staying at Andrea and Neil's cottage. Just as last year, we had a wonderful time. The cottage is perfect... cozy and clean. The views of the lake are absolutely breathtaking.
Andrea and Neil are extremely helpful hosts. We couldn't have asked for a better stay. This property is highly recommended... you will not be disappointed.
We can't wait for our stay next year at the cottage!
My family w/ two children (5 and 8 yrs) stayed for a week at the end of July 2014. The cottage was a perfect getaway.
- The water is deep off the dock and perfect for kids who love to run and jump.
- The cottage was very clean
-. There is a substantial amount of stairs from cottage to water so spent our days by the water
- We rented a boat for the week from the local marina (20 minute boat ride away). The pontoon boat was around 200 dollars a day.
The cottage is the quintessential Canadian cottage experience.
This is a fantastic cottage. The water is perfect for swimming. We highly recommend.
My husband and I, our daughter and her boyfriend, spent a week at Neil's cottage on Six Mile Lake. Neil was extremely helpful in planning our vacation and settling in once we arrived--he and Andrea even gave us a boat tour of the lake before setting out for their home in the city. We loved the private location and the great view from our porch and dock; the water was perfect for swimming and kayaking; and the kitchen was set up for serious cooking. Thanks for the great stories about winter on the lake. We would so love to come back after the lake has frozen over!
Neil and Andrea were great hosts. They were very helpful with meeting us and showing us to the cottage and around the cottage property. The cottage was amazing, clean and cozy. They have everything you could want available; blankets, board games, lake toys, flashlights etc. The lake was fantastic as well, warm and very deep, great for swimming. Truly a great experience and will hopefully be back someday.
What a relaxing and beautiful get away! We had a great time at the lake and everything was organized and set up for us upon arrival. The cabin is cute and cozy. Everything was clean and instructions were left for what we needed. The sauna is an awesome bonus. We will definitely be back
