About this listing
A calm & comfortable place to rest your feet after a day exploring the city of Edinburgh. A short walk from the main attractions- Leith invites you explore an up-and-coming district of town with great restaurants, bars & cafes.
Tucked away in the quiet street of Leith, we have a beautiful Victorian traditional apartment, that has a lovely double room for our Airbnb guests.
The apartment comprises of 2 large double bedrooms (which one of the rooms are for rent) and large bathroom, with shower and bath. Kitchen and large sunny bay-windowed sitting room.
For your stay there are fresh towels and full access the kitchen and living room too. We do not provide breakfast, however there is tea and coffee (Italian Lavazza stove top pot) for you, and feel free to use the kitchen for making your own meals!
The apartment is in the historically rich area of Leith, with supermarkets, great bars and cafes, and severals buses that would whisk you into the action of the city in just 10 minutes or a nice 20 minute walk! In Leith, you'll be able to experience a less "touristy" side of this amazing city- we will point you in the direction of the best seafood restaurants and quirky pubs in the city; but then your only a short walk away to some of the cities major attractions.
We also have a sunny communal garden outside the back and free parking outside on the street. The bedroom looks out over the garden so is nice and quiet, ensure a goodnight's sleep for you.
You'll be sharing the flat with myself and my partner Jay (from Finland!). We are often aren't in the flat (working or enjoying the sunshine!) so we hope that our guests just relax and use the place like they would their own home, we are always available for questions/ recommendations.
We have recently relaid new flooring and updated some of the living room furniture. It's even nicer than before, but might be a tiny bit different from the photos! (August 2013).
Feel free to ask us any questions. Emma and Jay.
Access to the full flat. With well equipped kitchen and space in the fridge for you if you want to cook, comfy living room/ dining area and newly- decorated bathroom are all shared.
Only area off limits is Jay and I's bedroom (and we don't go into your bedroom too!)
Interaction with Guests
We stay at the flat, but are often popping in out with lots of different work hours, so don't be alarmed if you see lots or little of us (especially little of Jay!).
Quirky independent cafes, bars and restaurants- perfect for getting off the beaten and exploring off the normal tourist trails.
Super easy to get around from our's. We are around 20 mins on foot to the main city centre and touristic attractions, or Leith Walk beside our flat has buses leaving early 2/3 mins if you don't fancy the walk!
AIRPORT connections: We also have the no.35 Lothian bus that stops 2 minutes from our flat- and goes all the way to the airport. Not super speedy as it goes all through the city centre, but is cheap (just one single fare- £1.50) and takes you door- to- door!
We hope our guests would use our flat like they would there own, with a little bit of love and care!
We want our guests to be as comfortable as possible- so enjoy the living room and kitchen too.
No smoking in the flat.
We live in a shared (beautiful) victorian stairwell, so please be respectful at night with noise as it echos all around!
We like to encourage our guests to not wear shoes around the flat- there is lots of shoe storage in the front hall.
Hi! We're Emma and Jay!
We are long time fans of Airbnb, both as guests and hosts. We've been hosting for 4 years now, and welcomed over 500 lovely guests through our apartment door :)
I'm (Emma) an artist and yoga teacher. My partner, who I live with- Jay is from Finland, he's big into reading and martial arts, alongside managing a pub in Edinburgh.
We've both done lots of travelling from working in Tea Estates in India to working for Art galleries in East Canada. Jay lived in Thailand for years and was born in Lapland!
Originally born in Edinburgh, but we met while both living in London, we know this city well. We are fans of quirky, independent and local business- shops, restaurants, bars and cafes included, we will be happy to tell you our top tips when you staying with us. I used to work in a michelin star restaurant in Edinburgh, so will be happy to help you out with reservations and or other tips of good dining spots. Jay will tell you all about where to get the best whiskey and ales in Edinburgh!
We're relaxed and friendly and we hope our guests are too!
