About this listing
Efficiency apartment on ground floor of house. Sleeps two people at most in single size beds (single with single trundle). The room contains a sink and small counter, refrigerator, microwave, table and chairs. Bathroom is on the same level.
A private studio basement apartment nestled in the Starr Hill neighborhood of downtown Juneau. Easy walking distance to all of downtown attractions including Mt Roberts tram, capitol building, museums, movie theaters, shopping and restaurants. Also situated at the trailhead for extensive Mt. Roberts & Mt. Juneau hiking. Enjoy Juneau from a quiet historical neighborhood.
Apartment amenities include: private bath with a shower, access to laundry; and a private kitchenette with hot-plate, refrigerator, microwave and toaster oven. Sleeping accommodations are in the same room as the kitchenette and table and chairs. The bed is a twin and has a twin trundle beneath (the trundle is a real mattress, not like a camping cot or anything). Plenty of pillows, quilts, and extra blankets for your comfort. Wireless internet is complimentary and quite fast (as long as you don't abuse it, it's also unlimited).
The basement is heated but you will not have access to the thermostat. An electric space heater is available if you wish your room to be warmer than the rest of the house.
If you are doing any fishing while you're in Juneau, feel free to store your catch in our chest freezer (we usually have plenty of space in there). Just remember to clean your catch at the harbor, definitely not at the house. We have too many bears in our neighborhood as it is.
On-street parking is available but limited and unpredictable: often you can park right out front, sometimes you have to find a spot several blocks down the hill.
You can walk to most places downtown easily from our location. The nearest bus stop is at 4th Street and Seward which is about six blocks downhill.
Maximum stay of 7 days preferred.
Guests may use the laundry and the sitting porch out front. If special arrangements are made ahead of time, guests may use our one parking spot as well. If you need anything at all that is not provided in your room, just ask!
Capitol Transit is the public bus. There are also plenty of tour buses departing from downtown from May to September as well as taxis year-round.
Great cozy spot in Juneau. Lou and Dave weren't there but Lou's mom picked us up from downtown which was very appreciated since it was raining. She made us feel at home and we had everything we needed in the apartment. We appreciated the coffee, granola and yogurts since we didn't want to venture out for breakfast. I would highly recommend the apartment and Juneau was a great stop on our Alaska adventure.
Lou and Dave's place was wonderful, comfortable, and clean, and they were great hosts. I felt at home instantly! The private kitchen is adorable though we didn't end up using it.
The house is at the top of a charming hillside neighborhood and has great views of the water and surrounding mountains -- weather permitting. For enthusiasts of walkable neighborhoods, there are a couple of staircases leading into downtown that take you past some really unique houses. I enjoyed my stay very much and would return in a heartbeat!
Our host was Lou`s Mom, Tamara, and she made us feel very welcome, making certain we knew how all worked and where everything was.
The space is small, but has everything we needed and more. We were delighted to find a washer and dryer very handy as we were running low on clean clothing...
It was quiet and a good location. Our only negative was that we could only stay there one night, not the 2 we needed. Thanks so much for a wonderful and warm feeling spot to spend an over night. The coffee was great! The granola from our neck of the woods (Bob`s Red Mill) and the fresh fruit was a treat. Thank you so very much for seeing to all details. We do wish we could have met you, Lou and Dave.
We were meet by Tamra, Lou and Dave mother. Who showed us around and made us feel welcome. The neighbourhood was nice and quiet away from the busy downtown area. We loved returning after a busy day to relax on the porch looking at the scenery and drinking coffee. Tamra supplied wonderful coffee.
The apartment had all we needed as well as the use of the laundry which is important when travelling.
Enjoyed our visit. Thank you again.
Such a lovely place to stay! It was my first Airbnb experience so I wasn't sur what to expect but Tamra came and checked in with me, even offered to drive me to the airport at the end of my stay! I spent most of my time out and about but loved having such a quiet, clean spot to crash. Highly recommend! Thank you!
We felt very welcome. The apartment is cosy and warm, with many small touches such as a tea set, coffee and cereal. There is a brand-new lovely bathroom. I loved the stonework over the old-fashioned kitchen sink. There was nice reading and info materials.
We loved walking up to the top of the hill from downtown, such a scenic neighborhood, and we liked staying in a typical Juneau house. It is a steep but relatively short (10 to 15 minutes) climb from the waterfront, with great views. Really a highlight of our Juneau stays.
