This is a wonderful place, a quintessential Devon farmhouse set in glorious countryside. Minutes from one of the best surfing beaches and great walks from the doorstep. Comfortable rooms, delicious food and parking in our yard, off the road. Secluded walled garden to relax in, this is the real Devon!
We offer three rooms different rooms, all separately listed as they all have different calendars.. This particular listing is for a double room, with a comfortable king size bed.- all our rooms come with a cooked breakfast and towels. We don't have any en suite bathrooms but there is a choice of two bathrooms. Please note if you want a slightly larger double or wish to add an extra mattress, then please go to our Room 2 listing. For a small single, then go to our Room 3 listing.. Although close to the sea, there are no sea views although you can hear it, at night when the sea is rough.
After a long journey, you may prefer to relax here with a home cooked meal and bottle of wine without having to get back in the car and seek out a place to eat. Please mention this when you make your reservation so I can organise this for you - I am versatile so can cater according to your preference. Perhaps something traditional like Shepherd's pie, anything vegetarian - or seafood linguine, we have a custom made barbecue for authentic Jamaican jerk chicken?. I use really fresh, local or my own home grown ingredients.
Our lovely home is very relaxing, the kitchen (where you can help yourself to tea or coffee) is the hub and as cooking is a passion of mine; the food will be excellent. We serve locally smoked bacon and ham; my eggs benedict are rather special. There are great places to walk to straight from the house, it's a bit of trek down the valley to the river but magical and well worth it - and has been a highlight with some guests, our gorgeous dog loves to tag along too (check out our reviews).
Bantham beach is a family friendly beach with loads of parking, life guards and a Gastrobus serving really good grub, coffee etc. A surfers' paradise, where you can have a try yourself with the 'Learntosea' team who can supply all the gear you need. It's a big beach with soft sand and you can amuse yourself endlessly, scrabbling over rocks, discovering pools and coves or walking over the ham. The village has a good pub, a village shop with a café and picturesque terrace - lots of choice.
That is just what's on offer at Bantham, there are many more equally special beaches and beauty spots. Whatever the weather there is always lots to do. There are interesting market towns very close by like Kingsbridge, Modbury and Totnes with independent shops, markets, cafes and restaurants a-plenty. Woodlands and The River Dart Country Park are great places for kids to go wild and have fun as well as golf courses, ferry rides, fishing trips, museums and galleries, National Trust Houses....I know the area really well and will be able to give you loads of advice on where to go and how to get there.
What else? I have already mentioned the lovely dog, there is also a bone idle cat and a 13 year old boy. All are friendly, laid back and none known to bite. We all look forward to welcoming you...
Had a great stay at Charlottes home with my son. Comfortable rooms. Great location yummy breakfasts. Enjoyed taking the dog Barley for walks. Would definitely return.
Wonderful house and surroundings. Charlotte is a charming and eloquent host who went to extra lengths to accommodate us at very short notice. She made us feel very at home and cooked up the best breakfast I think I have ever eaten. Thank you Charlotte and Theo too. Oh and I think Nutella greatly enjoyed running with Barley.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay with Charlotte and Theo. The beautiful house is in an idyllic setting and close to the sea. Our room was perfect – bright and clean with lovely decoration.
Charlotte gave us a delicious breakfast every morning and we felt very at home. Barley (the dog) always gave us a brilliant welcome whenever we came home.
I would highly recommend staying here and I will definitely book again.
Charlotte looked after us really well in her delightful cottage - great views over the fields and very convenient for Bantham - would definitely stay again!
The accomodation is asbolutely exciting and Charlotte and his son are perfect!!!!
My mother and I had a lovely stay with Charlotte in her rural farmhouse. The rooms were bright, clean and beautifully decorated with picture postcard views. The house was tucked away next to farm barns, a secret heaven. Charlotte and her family made us feel very welcome and provided us with wonderful cooked breakfasts. Our host could not have been more hospitable. We also loved meeting the friendly family pets who added to the relaxing, home from home atmosphere.
The house is situated within a short drive of our favourite beach at Bantham, and lovely pub, The Sloop Inn. Kingsbridge is close by, which is a bustling little estuary town with plenty of nice places to eat and a Farmer's Market on a Saturday morning.Tip: Birdy's Bees hand cream from the market is lovely.
Slightly further a field is Salcombe which is is a must do destination for lovely boutiques with lunch at Dick & Wills. Sitting outside watching the boats sail by with a glass of Pimms is a perfect day.
Both my mother and I would not hesitate to recommend this accommodation. Thank you Charlotte; we will return.
We had a lovely couple of nights staying with Charlotte, it was perfect. Very quiet down a country lane surrounded by idyllic countryside with a pub and some unspoilt seaside only a couple of miles away. She was a great hostess and made us feel very at home, it turned out we had friends in common but we would have felt welcome anyway. Charlotte was very kind when I messed up my booking and explained simply how to sort it and she was also generous with pain killers and Savlon when I managed to impale my foot on a thorn (entirely my fault for wading up a muddy estuary – most people are not that dim!) Bed comfortable, – soft without being too bouncy; breakfast; - a beast of a feast both mornings - dog, cat and Theo (in no particular order) thoroughly charming - all in all I could not fault our stay... Thanks Charlotte..

I feel extremely lucky to be living where I most want to be. The South Hams isn't just beautiful, the way of life is busy but not manic, so people can spare the time to smile and pass the time of day. We really do appreciate being able to pop down to the beach for a quick dog walk or go down the valley with a picnic or barbeque and catch the sunset. The night sky with so little light pollution is really special so is the birdsong during the day.
I have lived and worked all over the place doing all sorts but I am a home bird these days. Tending my garden or catching up with friends for breakfast on the beach, a sun downer somewhere, or a meal round the table at home does for me.
We love getting out on the water, messing about on boats, or gently meandering around the rivers and creeks on paddle boards.
Hoping very much that guests here at Reynolds will feel relaxed and comfortable to do their own thing or join us for a cup of tea or share a glass of wine if they'd like to.
