About This Listing
Romantic guesthouse in the center/ the Blue Room.
A beautiful and romantic colonial guesthouse in Cartagena de Indias, in the vibrant and traditional Getsemani area, one of the last truly exotic places in the Caribbean, the most dynamic downtown location where new luxury boutique hotels, bars and restaurants sprawl. Positioned in a quiet street, away from traffic and commercial activities, and just a few feet from the Arsenal and the booming Calle del Guerrero night spots and at walking distance from all the best restaurants. The house is a mix of colonial and mediterranean style designed by award winning architect and decorated with african elements and maps brought back by the owner in his African journeys. All rooms are customed designed and fully equipped. The cotto floors with spanish ceramic accents help you cool down and unwind surrounded by an abundant tropical vegetation with adult mango and palm trees. Guests can relax in the patios and enjoy an open air tile jacuzzi on the terrace and a mirador/solarium with view on the Cathedral, the churches of San Pedro and La Trinidad and the Castillo San Felipe. The house is on a north-south axis and enjoys plenty of natural ventilation.
The Blue Room.
Single room with queen bed. It can be used as a double room though it's smaller than our other rooms. It's very cozy and with a modernist touch. Tones are blue and white. 400 count sheets, hard and soft pillows. The bathroom, with dark blue ceramic tiles, is small but sexy.
"...as part of a broader Colombian reawakening, the city is resurfacing with boutique hotels, fusion-seeking restaurants and new fashion labels that turn sleepy towns into global destinations. Tourists are descending on its galleries, strolling idly down its byways, reveling with locals at New Year’s Eve parties in public plazas. Travelers now call it Latin America’s hippest secret." The New York Times May 2, 2010
"Take a dash of faded colonial grandeur, then add a dose of sultry nightlife and an influx of cosmopolitan travelers seeking the next great Caribbean hot spot. Oliver Schwaner-Albright sets his sights on an emerging Colombian getaway that delivers all this and more." Travel + Leisure April 2008
"...recently, the Colombian port town of Cartagena has become an unlikely food destination, attracting the kind of culinary travelers who spend their vacations in Rome and Paris. And what they find is a city far more exotic, but no less adroit at catering to sophisticated palates...200-year-old Spanish colonial mansions refurbished with crisp interiors, trendy bistros that elevate plantains to haute fare, and theatrical rooms buzzing with dignitaries in starched collars and Windsor knots sipping minty rum drinks..." "David Ebershoff visits this dreamy city by the sea, a place that wears its rich history as lightly as it does its languorous charm." Conde Nast Traveller March 2007

Marcus and his staff have made me feel very welcome and at home during my stay. Maria Jose picked me up at the airport and gave me some tips on where to go. When I arrived Luis showed me the ropes. Air conditioning works perfectly (and you'll need it in the heat ), there are fresh towels provided everyday. Even though I was a solo traveller they provided me with 4 towels (you'll need it from the regular showers). Breakfast was excellent - love the fresh fruit and juice they provide everyday.
Also the rooms have Apple TV and Netflix - if you're into that
I had an absolutely gorgeous stay at Lez Lezards. Markus and his wonderful assistant Luis and ALL the staff were the perfect hosts sand SO welcoming. I was struck down with food poisoning a few nights before so decided to book myself into somewhere quieter to recuperate. Markus' place did not disappoint. Luis came to collect me from the other hostel and Markus popped by to welcome me and see how I was doing, and then brought me a special drink for rehydration, and his staff very kindly cooked me some white rice (the only thing to eat after food poisoning!!) which when you are travelling alone are the kind of personal touches that make all the difference. Such a beautiful guest house with everything you could need. Super quiet, comfy bed, TV (and Mac tv!), wifi, lovely ensuite with...HOT water!! Which even though Cartagena is a pretty hot city is still a welcome luxury. Beautiful roof terrace with jacuzzi, from where you are stargaze and relax. The breakfast was substantial
And delicious! It's in short walk from the old town and even shorter to all the restaurants etc of gestemani. I really could not have had a better stay at Lez Lezards and would DEFINITELY stay again. Thank you so much Markus and to your lovely team for having me and seeing me back to health!
Romantic Guesthouse at Les Lezards was a pleasant stay. The staff is very nice & helpful and kept the apartment very neat and clean at all times. They were also very helpful with my locker malfunctioning and with healthy breakfasts every morning.
Marcus was very professional and his tips were right on target. He`s friendly with a good sense of humor. Our only small concern was returning home on foot after dinner in the center. Although close to the main attractions in the center, streets can be a bit dark and, at times, empty.
Overall, an excellent stay and we`ll be back.
Had a great three nights in Cartagena staying at Marcus's house. Marcus was so welcoming and always kept me informed. He even offered to pick me up from the airport. The house was amazing and the location is perfect for exploring this wonderful city. It is also very quiet and the girls that help out and cook breakfast are all extremely friendly. This is my first stay at an Airbnb and I only have good things to say! I will definitely be coming back to stay in "Les Lezards" and shall recommend it to all my friends. Thanks again Marcus and co.. !
Marcus is extremely professional and welcoming. This was a perfect place for myself. I was given my own key, and access to the shared parts of the house. I took advantage of the mini fridge, breakfast and laundry service. I was pleasantly surprised to find my place cleaned immaculately each day. I thank the helpful staff, too, which I was not expecting. The neighborhood was also a great location, allowing me to do a lot of exploring of the city.
Also, he provided me a map that I got a lot of use out of.
Nice and cozy hostal very well located in Getsemani (a barrio with still authentic touch in Cartagena). Marcus and his staff are very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast ist great! Marcus has a lot of very good recommendations for restaurants and other things as a "local" in Cartagena. The opportunity of the very late check-out for my night- bus to Medellin was perfect! Muchas gracias por todo Marcus!
We stayed 4 days at Markus' place. The excellent location (right in the centre of Getsemani, but with no noise problems), super clean rooms, friendly host and staff, and lovely guesthouse, helped to make our stay a wonderful experience. Markus also solved some logistic problems we had, thanks for that !
