I can only recommend this wonderful apartment! I thought it would be good, but it was way better, than i could imagine. It makes you immediatly feel comfortable. Herèndina, the host for the apartment, is very nice and helps with every little problem that could exist. I really had a good time there!
Perfect location in the historical center of Grado.
Everything in walking distance.
We came in and we found a cosy, warm appartment .
It was like coming home.
I am sure we will book it again, as soon as possible.
Thanks for a wonderful time in Grado.
Great location in the ancient part of the town, nicely adapted old traditional house and intelligently furnished little apartment. It may get somewhat hot during the hotest days in summer - not in our case. The absence of WLAN is a problem given the specific italian system. All in all a very pleasant and positive experience.
This location is charming (in the old part of Grado) and it is easy to get to the beach. Free parking (lines painted white) is at the bus station near the port. It is about a 10-15 minute walk to the flat.
Unfortunately the place was sweltering hot our first night--to the point we discussed cancelling and moving into a hotel. It is really necessary to have air conditioning installed. Hernendina and Damiano, a local couple acting on behalf of the owner, were great and brought another fan. We decided to stay, and fortunately the weather cooled enough eventually to make it pleasant inside. (and for the sake of comparison, our home in neighbouring Austria was 39 celcius (102F) the same day; we were well-adjusted to heat so when I say it was too hot to sleep--it really was TOO HOT to sleep.
The bedroom of the flat is on a second floor leading from the kitchen with no railing to hold onto for late-night trips to the loo. There is a trapdoor at the top of the stairs, which has to be closed if one wants to unpack a suitcase. With the trapdoor closed, we could have access to the closet. We didn't bother, because it was too much hassle to close off the stairway each time. We just left our suitcases on the floor and lived out of them.
we also slept on the pull-out couch on the main level as it was even hotter up upstairs in the loft bedroom, and, rather precarious for my husband's late-night, no-eyeglasses, half-asleep trips to the loo.
There is NO WIFI access in or near the flat. There is free wifi all over the town--ONLY if you have an ITALIAN telephone number. At each café, the wifi signal would show on my iphone 5, but the symbol is as far as it got: to actually use the wifi you have to sign in, and the inflexible choose-one-of-these-only drop-down menu of telephone prefixes are for Italian numbers only. For Italian guests--no problem. For everyone else--problem! DH had to work on our holiday, and having no wifi anywhere was a problem.
We were very happy to have the fridge and washing machine, and I was happy I had brought laundry soap with me as there was none provided.
All in all, the flat was clean and charming, and the area excellent and within easy walking distance to both the main beach and the free beach. Restaurants, bank machines, and cafes were plentiful in the immediate area.
Would we stay here again? yes...IF there is air conditioning and wifi provided in the future. If not, then we will stay at a hotel which provides those things.
