  • My small family and I enjoyed a perfect weekend overnight, staying with a delightful host. The location is absolutely ideal for exploring Santa Cruz downtown; the San Lorenzo River walk and park; the Boardwalk, and Steamer's Lane area. We drove in but largely left the car parked streetside, walking instead to everywhere we liked.

Our dog and toddler loved all the Moon Stucco had to offer! So cozy. Worth mentioning is the cottage's vintage: it's long on character; short on amenities and gloss. But we knew what to expect, having lived in similar Northern California dwellings pretty much all our lives -- 30s vintage means something very specific in my mind, and it is fully-realized inside Moon Stucco. While dated, the space is clean and efficient, and was nicely prepared, well-functional, and warmly furnished for our stay. The basic kitchen is a huge plus for our style of travelling. And Madeline graciously provided a travel crib for us per our pre-visit request, which was so essential. We couldn't have been better set-up.

The great pleasure here really is the host family and their naturally neighborly way. It was very easy for us to connect with them and get settled, so we could stay with the comfortable assurance of a welcome guest. They put us at ease, with ease and immediacy. It was much-appreciated and a true delight.

I suggest Moon Stucco guests take advance note that there are limited electrical outlets inside (we found none in the bedrooms but improvised to use baby's things without much trouble). Beyond that, enjoy well what you find; dwell not upon what you don't, and you shall be Moon Stucco Happy. We are still, and verily! We look forward to a return here for another family Santa Cruz adventure.

  • Overall we didnt have a great stay. Madeline hadn't prepared the house I booked (Moon Stucco). Instead, she tried to get us to move because she didn't read the booking correctly and had prepared the other house. When we did get settled in the place that I booked, it was dirty, there were spiderwebs and spiders in the house, it was freezing cold, and water trickled out of the shower at luke-warm/cold temperatures. The house looked great in the photos, but in retrospect, the place is very overpriced for what you get.

    Response from Jeb:

Duncan came early and asked for a different room (one that wasn't recently cleaned, after I'd spent the morning cleaning up another room for him). Though I thought he understood that I was trying to accommodate him, and that the room wasn't in its ideal condition, apparently this wasn't clear enough.

  • My husband and I stayed in Emily's Moon Stucco for a quick overnight. The location was great -- safe and walking distance to downtown and the beach. The space was clean and comfortable and set back from the street, so it was quiet. The beds are doubles (full) so they're a bit small, but it wasn't a huge problem. We met Emily only briefly, but she seemed very nice.

  • We spent a very relaxing weekend at Emilys Moon stucco. The stucco is simple and nice, truly a very special place. It was very calm and peaceful. Our daughter was playing in the yard, we had breakfast outside, enjoyed the sun and talking to the neighbors living in the front house...
We are quite sure that we will come back soon.

  • When we arrived at the bungalow we clapped our hands in delight - this was just the kind of place we had hoped for! It was incredibly clean and decorated to fit the time period of the builder (1940's)?? A big comfy couch to snuggle up in, extra blankets for coziness, an outfitted kitchen and walking distance to everywhere we planned to go. Emily has a good scene here and I look forward to returning to see all the projects she spoke of.
