We have 3 cabins, each identical. They are 650 square feet, with a kitchen, bath and living area downstairs and upstairs is a queen sized bed, TV and a balcony from which to enjoy the cool morning as you sip some excellent Costa Rican coffee.
Your stay will be in a private bungalow, you'll have a full kitchen where you can cook, or you can just keep your "fluids" in the refrigerator and go out for your meals! The downstairs can sleep two or three kids and you and your bride/groom (or partner) can have a more private quarters upstairs.
We welcome you to ask for anything you need and don't find! We have a DVD player and a bunch of great DVD movies too! The girls we have who clean the place up may have time to do a load of laundry for you for a small fee. That will be between the two of you!
Bob and Sue can usually be found hanging around the courtyard in the late afternoon. Bob might play a few tunes on his "mouth harp" for you if you ask kindly! If you see us down in the courtyard, feel free to come down and join us. We often will have some afternoon goodies to share too!
With two Spanish schools nearby we sometimes will see folks from there walking or biking down to the grocery store. People are generally friendly and you should be sure to stop in and say "hello" to Alison at "la Petite Cafe" on the main road near the ABC Realty. Tell her Bob and Sue sent you!
There are lots of excursions you can book and many will pick you up right at the cabins. There are fishing trips, zip-lining outings, rainforest explorations... Day trips!
It's an easy walk to the beach, to shops, to places to eat and it's a great way to explore the area at the same time!
We would be happy to pick you up at the airport if you let us know in advance. Sometimes people like that extra level of security in knowing they will get to the right cabins! As long as we can, we'll meet you at the airport. Just don't expect us to meet a flight that gets in at 11pm!!! Contact us in advance!
We stayed in cabin 2 for a week and it was perfection. Close to town and close to the beach, but very very quiet at night.
The cabins are large and clean and the ac is just perfect for sleeping, but not at all needed during the day.
Bob and Sue were great hosts, getting us in touch with the right people for anything we needed. We want to come back and stay for a month or more.
Some tips on MUST DO's in Tamarindo - SURF! (of course), Bingo Night at Dona Lee's, play a round of mini golf, and take a turtle tour. Look for Nico renting boards on the beach - gives a great paddle boarding and turtle tour!
This was our first time to Costa Rica, we can't say enough about what an amazing country it is. Bob and Sue were the perfect hosts, welcoming us to their town and their adopted home.
If we could give more than 5 stars we would!

This was our fourth visit to Tamarindo and staying at Bob & Sue's cheerful cabinas made it our best visit yet. We settled in, were well located (thankfully just out of the madness of the main drag, but only a 4 minute walk from an amazing cafe latte!), and really enjoyed slipping into the pace of Costa Rican life. The walk to the beach is about 7 minutes, and you truly feel you've landed in paradise.
As a couple traveling, the amount of space was ideal. The accommodations were rustic and charming - providing us everything that we needed for a simple lifestyle. We made daily use of the kitchen, which was simply but adequately equipped with everything we needed. Though there were two TVs in the space - one upstairs, one downstairs - we didn't wind up needing them. This is not the place for those looking for a luxury resort - it's the ideal place for those looking for an authentic Costa Rican beachy/jungle experience at an INCREDIBLE value. The A/C kept us plenty cold at night and during our midday siestas. Breakfast on the front porch and chilling out with a coffee and book in the evening on the upstairs deck became ritual.
Also worth noting - We've stayed in several different types of accommodations throughout the country, and we felt totally safe and secure here. There can be petty theft in Costa Rica, but Bob & Sue have a great security fence and nice secure locks and windows. We had no issues and also weren't worried about our stuff the whole time.
Best of all was having hosts who were welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful. They pointed us towards a great tour operator and also showed us a wonderful local restaurant/bar (with full U.S. Sports coverage!), and were very understanding and helpful when we had two logistical problems involving keys... once getting locked out of our cabina and once getting locked out of our rental car! These were unusual glitches for us to experience, but everything was made easier thanks to Bob & Sue's help.
We'd definitely stay at these comfortable, sweet cabins again. Since purchasing the property 6 months ago, Bob & Sue have already made some improvements, and I'm exited to see all the small changes they make in the future. The place is great now and it's only going to get better under their wonderful ownership.
Great place to stay with amazing hosts! Easy stroll to the beach and to town but far enough away that it is quiet and private. Highly recommend!
