Enjoy exquisite stained glass windows and stunning woodwork. This is a beautiful space to experience and admire.

The space

The exquisite historic home, built in 1885, includes nine working fireplaces with magnificent mantels, 8 gorgeous stained glass windows, stunning original woodwork and beautiful architectural details. The Dearing Mansion is a splendid place to relax and discover. Guests may enjoy the main floor living room, music parlor with grand piano, reading room, dining room, kitchen, outdoor deck with downtown views and sauna.

Guest access

Conveniently located 5 minutes from downtown Saint Paul and a 10 minute drive from the airport, Dearing Mansion in West Saint Paul is just over the Smith Avenue High Bridge across the Mississippi River.

Interaction with guests

I enjoy interacting with guests and I respect people's privacy. This home has a variety of room options available and as such, operates much like a traditional bed and breakfast with shared common spaces. There may be several guests at one time, providing an opportunity to meet a variety of people. The home is quite large with many beautiful spaces for all to enjoy on the main floor. Private bedrooms with either shared or private bath (master suite) are located on the 2nd floor. I ask that guests be respectful of each other at Dearing Mansion. Because of the historic nature of the home and the shared aspect, it is well suited for adults (older children may be considered).

We so very much enjoyed our stay at the Dearing Mansion. The rooms are meticulously restored, every nook offers a beauty to behold. It is like staying in a treasured piece of art, that is comfortable, homey and welcoming. The parlors offered cozy spaces to read or converse. The kitchen offered beautiful sunlight in the morning for drinking coffee. The view of St. Paul from the patio was stunning. And the sauna was a bonus treat! Scott's work is apparent throughout and it was a gift to stay in his home!

Beautiful space!! If you are looking for a great place to relax this is a great location to stay. I wish we could have spent more time here, would have loved more time to play the amazing grand piano or even use the sauna in he basement. Scott was very nice and respectful.

Scott's place was amazing, if you have ever paid for a tour through an old house you will love staying here. It was also clean and comfortable

The history of the house is absolutely amazing! I especially loved that the master suite had a conjoin-able room with a private bathroom. The whole house gave off an air of elegance and history that blew my family away. The house was easily accessible in a nice neighborhood that has a great view of the downtown area across the river.

A beautiful and charming house! We had the master suite, which was very clean and had a private bathroom. The shower is amazing! There were other guests staying at the same time we were, but you couldn't hear a sound. Coffee and breakfast were available in the kitchen and there is a lovely deck to enjoy your morning coffee on. Easy to get to from the airport. Nice, quiet neighborhood and ample parking.

Scott was such an amazing host. He greeted us at the door when we arrived. He gave us a tour of the entire mansion. Everything about the home was immaculate and beautifully restored, rusting, and absolutely charming. The views from the mansion are amazing. Very close distance to St. Paul; 5-7minute drive over the bridge. I can't wait to go back!

Scott User ProfileScott is a superhost.

I am a residential remodeling contractor specializing in older homes. I live in this home part time with my 19 year old son until late August. My 21 year old other son is back from college for the summer also living with me part time. You may or may not see them.
I love sharing a cup of coffee or tea in the kitchen or living room in front of a fire.
The house is truly a treasure. It is one of the most unique homes in St. Paul. The back deck has wonderful views of St. Paul which is a 5 minute drive from Downtown St. Paul. In my spare time I love to travel, sea kayak, and lindyhop swing dance. I'm always game for a canoe trip, a great single malt scotch, a Broadway show, a home improvement project around the house involving hanging any kind of art or a good conversation. As a guest you will be welcomed, given the tour and assisted in any way I can.
