We had a great stay at Ron"s.
The flat is cosy and cool and everything from Ron meeting us to our last night worked really well. We missed only one thing when the weather was bad and that was aTV set. Otherwise everything neccessary was there. A great stay and we will come back
Ron is the consummate host. He has prepared everything a guest could ever need right down to oyster cards for the tube and a prepaid cell phone! His list of suggested restaurants and even emergency contact info was so complete it made my parents immediately comfortable after a long day of travel. He even helped lug 8,000 lbs of luggage up two flights of stairs! 5 stars just for being awesome Ron:-)
Now from the host, this flat only gets better. I honestly wished we were staying in London longer so i could enjoy the apartment longer! Beautifully decorated and extremely welcoming. I am definitely planning on checking availability for this flat the next time i come to London.
I wasn't able to tell that there were two flights of stairs (of course in america first floors are street level) which made it a little tricky for my father who uses crutches to get around, but we made the best of it and definitely would have packed lighter had we realized the differences between american and European floors. Other than that little snafu which i blame myself for- the apartment is even more splendid than the pictures indicate.
I think the only thing missing was a television which my mother missed as she wanted to keep up on current events via BBC. I however managed to watch Godfather 1-3 and was quite happy with the projector screen:-)
Overall we had a great experience and would not hesitate to recommend this flat to anyone traveling to London. Its location is great and the amenities are top shelf!
My husband and I loved staying at Ron's apartment. It was clean, comfortable, well located and really cool. Ron was really friendly and helpful. The Oyster cards were also really convenient. We would stay here again without hesitation!
Our flight was supposed to be direct from Los Angeles to London. It got diverted first to Toronto, and then to Shannon Ireland, until finally arriving 12 hours late in London. I mentioned all this because Ron was incredibly accommodating. Throughout this ordeal he repeatedly rearranged taxi service for us to take us from Heathrow to his flat. For this I'm truly grateful.
The flat was very well-kept, and clean. Nice towels were provided and he even had extra electrical power converters for our recharging teens. A Tube station is a five-minute walk away.
Ron had plenty of information to help us with our stay. He's a very gracious host. We recommend him highly and would return on a subsequent visit.
It was our first visit to London.Ron was waiting for us, even though it was very very late after midnight. He showed where he lived and how we could reach him.We have not had any problem during our stay. The district has very lovely houses, branch (website hidden) was safe and local indeed and also easy to reach the touristic places.Ron's instructions were very helpful about being a tourist in London. Thanks Ron!
We had a wonderful few days here. Ron was a very helpful ,kind and considerate host. The flat itself is a really dynamic space. It`s cool ,comfortable, intriguing and peaceful, all at the same time. We loved it and appreciated how everything was so thoughtfully set (website hidden)`s a delightful home with quality furnishings and bedding.Ron made every effort to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The street is surprisingly quiet and yet is a friendly neighbourhood with some great little shops ,places to eat and a fab deli/cafe just next door . Beautiful parkland and greenery close by too.Very happy to have been able to stay here and would love to stay here again. Excellent value.Margaret
Accueil et services très agréables
A l'arrivée nous avons été surpris par l'aspect un peu plus vieillot de l'appartement que imaginé en voyant les photos.
Mais ceci n'a pas été un problème par la suite.
After Jean-Yves review I contacted him to ask him which aspect of the apartment was not reflected by the photos to which he replied "....when you look closely at the pictures they do reflect the reality."
As far as I can understand, I think Jean-Yves was surprised by the vintage style of the apartment even though this is mentioned in the description.
We had a really lovely stay. The flat is very well done, equiped and designed, and Ron was really welcoming, friendly and helpful. The fact that it's on the Northern line + surrounded by nice shops and close to the Hamstead Heath park was a real plus.
We'll check availabilities for sure next time we plan a family holiday in London.
Ron's apartment was the perfect home base for our long weekend in London and turned out to be better than we expected from the listing information. We were five total (two parents and three teenage children) and we slept comfortably with plenty of room to relax and lounge about. We arrived by air (Stanstead), train, and tube - all very easy for these first timers to London! Ron was easily accessible, communicated clearly throughout the process, provided excellent guidance for our trips was very responsive. We loved the eclectic, comfortable and funky furniture and decor, especially the over-the-top audio visual ammenities (these nearly side-tracked some day trips by tempting the kids with movies/music). The feel was well-worn, comfortable, and very clean. The truly first rate kitchen combined with the grocery store immediately across the street allowed us to keep our food costs in check while practicing our own culinary arts. The access to "oyster" pay-as-you-go transit cards saved us 20 pounds - and we left them with a few extra pounds apiece for the next guests. Ron's binder of resources including local menus, tube maps and schedules, London maps and schedules, etc... was very useful as well. The neighborhood is pleasant, it feels safe, it is very convenient to multiple modes of public transportation as well as very walkable. It also sports many options for eating, drinking, services, etc... in the immediate vicinity. We are already planning our next London trip and will book Ron's apartment again.
Felt really at home in Ron's apartment - it's cool place with everything you could need (local info on wine / coffee / food, Oyster cards, cooking gear, projector cinema screen... The whole works!) The setup made us feel like London locals and Ron was very friendly and accessible. Highly recommend staying here!
