Description:
This property is a spacious, simple, and clean ground level red-brick rowhouse apartment on a quiet, tree-lined street. Just steps away from the famous 17th street corridor of markets, small coffee shops and restaurants.

Windows and sunlight from the front living room to the rear and 20 recessed lights on dimmers give this apartment an open, spacious, bright feel during the day and a warm, private feel at night.

Amenities:
Full kitchen and living room, high-speed WIFI, LCD TV with 30+ channels, washer/dryer in-unit, queen sized bed, full sized blow up mattress, sleepable couch and love seat, ample bedding, linens, towels, toilet paper, and paper towels included make this 700 square-foot apartment perfect for you family and friends.

Central air conditioning and heating make the apartment even more comfortable--WARM in the winter and COLD in the summer.

Fully stocked kitchen! Pots, pans, silverware, plates, cups, wine glasses, coffee maker, etc. The kitchen is small but efficient, with everything you'd need to cook a meal. Guests usually like to cook breakfast before heading out into the city!

Location:
Centrally located near all the major DC destinations, this house is truly in the middle of it all:

-Two blocks north of Dupont Circle
-Two blocks south of the U-Street corridor
-Two blocks from "Dupont Circle" stop on the Red Line Metro
-Just steps away from a supermarket, wine shop, a dozen restaurants and cafes, and retail clothing stores, art galleries, and several museums

Finally, just a 20-minute walk down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House, Lincoln, Jefferson, Washington, and all other major monuments.

Parking:
Depends on your budget. Street parking is pretty easy to swing and most of my guests have no trouble moving their car around and finding places on the street to park. However, to park it for the whole time and not worry about it, I'd definitely recommend the garage on New Hampshire Avenue literally a block from the house. It's 15 bucks a day and it really beats moving the car from spot to spot, etc.

Check-in and Check-out:
Check-in and check-out times are from 3PM on and before 12PM (noon), respectively. I try to accommodate any reasonable timing requests if I can.

Safety:
This is among the safest streets and neighborhoods in DC, and with iron security gates and double locks at the front and rear entrances, and also over the front windows, this is a safe home for your family, as well. Perfect for a family trip, spacious, warm, and comfortable.

Communication:
I will be on call for the entire length of your stay, you can shoot me a call/text/email at any point and I will respond right away with any questions you might have.

  • Staying here in this place worked out so well, we're very happy with our experience! Pictures were really accurate and communication from the host was perfect. Thanks for such a nice trip to DC :)

  • Positive points. Location was excellent. Half a mile to the Dupont Circle Metro. Grocery less than a block away, along with wine store and good restaurants (Agora Turkish restaurant was fabulous!) Having a kitchen is always nice for cooking breakfast before heading out for the day. Bed was comfortable. Place is pretty much as pictured on site. Very small, but affordable, functional and comfortable. Large, nice TV (although we never turned it on). Internet connection was appreciated. Washer/dryer included which gave us option to do clothing if required. There is a Capital Bike Share station next to the nearby grocery store so this transportation option is easily accessed.

Things to improve. The place could have been cleaner. Not filthy or anything, but certainly could use a good, deep cleaning. My husband said it felt like a Spartan college dorm, but we are older people and are used to vacation rentals that are a little higher end (and better cleaned). Adding a small bistro table in the living area would provide seating for dining and make cooking and eating more functional. A small coffee table is really needed to put drinks, etc. Although the kitchen was furnished (again Spartan), it really was not amenable for people who really cook. We had planned on making dinners there in addition to breakfasts to save monies, but given the lack of seating for eating and minimal cooking utensils, we ate out more often. Not a bad thing, though, as we discovered nice restaurants.

This was our first experience with airbnb. When I tried to call once and there was no way to leave a message, it made me worry that it could be a scam, but Jay was responsive to my concerns and gave me check in information early to assuage my qualms.

  • We loved our stay in DuPont Circle! The apartment served as a perfect spot to relax and recoup after a long day of walking and sightseeing. Jay was very accommodating, and always available via airbnb message if we needed anything. There is a grocery store just a half a block away which was convenient for grabbing snacks or last minute items. The apartment is just a five minute walk from the DuPont metro stop, which takes you basically every where you need to go in D.C. The apartment is the perfect size for a two person stay. The kitchen is tight so cooking at the apartment isn't ideal - but there are plenty of nearby restaurants just in the neighborhood and larger city in general that are great. Thank you, Jay!

  • This was our first time using AirBnB and we couldn't have been happier. The place was clean, in a great location, and Jay was super responsive. I would definitely recommend staying with Jay, this was a wonderful value for the location, wish we could've stayed longer.

  • I stayed here for a week to do some sight-seeing. It is in a nice area and very handy for the Metro and shops; there is a Safeway at the end of the street. The flat was warm and comfortable. I also found it surprisingly quiet, given it is a basement apartment.

  • Our stay in Washington D.C. was very nice, the apartment worked out very well for us, and I would recommend it to a friend. The neighborhood is safe, the apartment is as described, and there are lots of good places to eat nearby. Ask Jay for recommendations. What I liked best: The location - the apartment is in a good location (safe, quiet, and close to many services). We were able to walk or take the metro everywhere we wanted to go. The apartment was small but clean and generally had everything we needed (Internet, a warm place to get out of the snow, washing machine, etc). You probably would not want to have more than 3 people stay in the apartment or plan to spend a lot of time there as it is quite small. But, if you are coming to Washington D.C. you are probably not doing so to spend all of your time in an apartment.

  • Jay's apartment was just perfect for our stay in Washington DC whether for business or pleasure. The location, just a few blocks from Dupont Circle, is central and provides easy access to all parts of the city and a huge choice of restaurants, bars, bookstores and more.

The apartment was super clean and has all the comforts and conveniences one might need for a short or longer term stay.

Jay was a fantastic host and very responsive. I would definitely recommend his place!

Thank you Bob for being a model airbnb guest! I'm glad you got to explore some of the restaurants near the apartment :)

  • We really enjoyed our stay at this 1BR rowhouse and will definitely stay again next time I am in D.C. The room is very functional and cozy. Fully equipped kitchen, clean bathroom, and comfortable beds and sofa. It locates at a quiet street in the heart of the D.C. Within 5 minutes, you can easily walk to subway stations, bus stations, restaurants with different ethnic cuisine focus (American, Italian, Asian, Mediterranean, etc), and stores such as Safeway and CVS. Most importantly, we felt very safe to walk around even at night. Moreover, the host is very attentive. We corresponded through email and texts, and the host was on top of everything. We wanted to have an additional set of sheets after we checked in, and he brought them over within an hour of our request. Again, we will definitely choose to stay at this place next time we visit D.C.

    Response from Jay:

You and your sister were model guests! I love the location of this flat and all the nearby restaurants and I'm glad you took advantage of the prime locale.

  • The apartment was perfect for what me and fiance needed. We were in town for a week to iron out details of our upcoming wedding and we were also working remotely for a few days. We needed a place that was near our wedding venue and also metro accessible. It is perfectly located right in the DuPont area, within walking distance to lots of restaurants, coffee shops and bars. We had everything we needed!

Jay was also great - very responsive to our emails before we arrived and everything went as planned. I would definitely recommend the staying here and I would stay here again! Thanks!

    Response from Jay:

So glad this cute place worked out for you and your fiance Zoe. Let me know if you are ever back in the District and safe travels!

  • Location is excellent, however,
    - Internet was so slow as to be practically unusable
    - TV didn't work
    - house could have used a decent cleaning
    - there was no kitchen table

    Response from Jay:

I usually consider reviews as a way I can improve my hosting ability. However this is just patently false - TV and internet work well. Please see airbnb verified photos of the kitchen!!
