About this listing
To spend a vacation particular I suggest a stay in a typical cave Modica recently renovated.
The dammuso is housed in a building of the 18th century. and has retained its original features, with roof vaults and niches.
It is located in one of the narrow streets of Modica home of chocolate and the cradle of Sicilian Baroque. The cave consists of a kitchenette equipped with stove, fridge, double bed and bathroom with shower set in a niche. Comfortable, elegantly furnished. The space is equipped with air conditioning and TV. Ideal for those who want to spend a holiday feature. Guests are greeted with a welcome basket of local products.
The dammuso is 5 meters from Corso Umberto, the main street in Modica with churches, monuments, shops, bars, restaurants.
In front of the house there is a bus stop to reach various parts of the city and to the airport of Catania and Comiso.

This place is almost brand new. It's nicely done up especially considering the price, the lock and doors are solid-loking as well as the kitchen and the electrical wiring, lamps, etc. and all painted in a nice light stone color. Everything was very clean and neat especially the bathroom with a great shower and a solid stone sink.
Location is great, steps from the main Corso Umberto but very nicely tucked in an old quiet street. 1 minute away there is free parking (white stripes), easy to access from the main road - this is a great plus in Modica!
The hosts were very nice, there were some delicious local sweets and chocolates waiting for us in the room.
Minor complaints: no wifi (they said they will consider adding it in the future), renovations going on at the adjacent building so week mornings a little noisy (no prob on weekends), there was no shampoo and very little soap left (just make sure you tell them in advance), and lastly it's semi-buried so eventually it gets a little damp, although as I mentioned it's clean and doesn't smell. They have an appartment upstairs, if you stay for more than a couple nights you might prefer it, but this is certainly recommended and great value.
