The room has a flat screen TV on which you can watch Netflix, Hulu Plus and a variety of other channels. You can also listen to Pandora and other music channels.

Interaction with Guests
We really enjoy meeting new people and will be happy to offer you a glass of wine and chat with you, but we are happy to give you as much privacy and time alone as you would like. We are very familiar with the attractions of the Sonoma Valley, as well as the entire Bay Area, and enjoy sharing our knowledge. John has been a tour guide in the wine country and the San Francisco area, so he can point you in the right direction. Ask us about private chauffeured tours at rates far below those offered elsewhere, and which include complimentary wine tastings at area wineries.
It's a short bike ride, a 30 minute walk, or 5 minute drive to the center of Sonoma. Buses to Petaluma and Santa Rosa are within walking distance.
Other Things to Note
We provide you with coffee, tea and pastries in the morning.
No smoking or pets please.
John and Merian were wonderful, they had a bottle o wine waiting for us in our room., which we apreciated as we had driven a long way up the coast from Sta Barbara.
Their house was very cozy, clean and comfortable. Thir son Pio was super friendly and welcoming.
they were so relaxed and easygoing,, whatever made us happy was good for them, we enjoyed hanging out and sharing stories while siping Marian's local favorite wine.
John took us on an "AWESOME" Wine tasting tour (drink lots of water) and he joined us for lunch at one of his favorite Italian restaurants.
The household is definitely a happy and balanced, it felt like home! I loved the doggie Dharma!
My fiancé and I stayed with John and Merian for two nights while we traveled to LA from eastern Washington, and it was perfect! They were great communicators throughout the whole process, and were incredibly kind and welcoming once we arrived. They gave us a lot of suggestions on things to do and where to go, and had a lot of travel guides waiting for us in the room as well.John took us on a very reasonable wine tour and drove us around the valley to various wineries, and also provided us with complimentary tasting vouchers at each stop. It was great! The room was very comfortable and clean, as was the bathroom and rest of the house. It was really nice to have a light breakfast laid out for us in the morning, and drinking coffee on the patio was a great way to start the day. This was a perfect stay and we would come back in a heartbeat!
John and Merian were excellent hosts. They gave us good suggestions on local wineries and back roads. They were interesting and easy to talk to. Their house was very comfortable and inviting. We would definitely stay with them again.
We had a truly memorable time staying with John & Merian. Firstly they are so warm and welcoming & have the sweetest dog. John was able to take us on a tour of local vineyards for only $45 per person- a snip of the price of any other tour you'll find. Then after this we relaxed in their garden with them and they put on a lovely spread of wine and cheese! They were kind enough to let us use their phone to make a dinner reservation too.
The bedroom was perfect and clean, as was the bathroom. Not only this but they had left a bottle of wine in the room for us.
In the morning breakfast was cereals and fresh pastries + coffee/tea, just what we needed.
The following day we didn't have big plans so John gave us some recommendations which we pursued- firstly we went north to Korbel champagne house (free tasting and tours), then to the Armstrong red wood just 10 minutes away for a walk. After this we took a drive to the coast and went from Jenna to Bodega bay before heading back inland. John had recommended all of this and it was brilliant.
We hope other people find this review helpful. If you need anywhere to stay in Sonoma John & Merian's house is a warm and welcoming must! We hope to one day see them again!
It was such a pleasure staying in John and Merian's home. John and merian have been great host since the very first moment we booked their place. They are very friendly and their house has such a great vibe. My husband and I felt really welcomed in their place. Our bedroom was comfortable and the bathroom was always clean as well as the house. We are Brazilians and because of this John played some good Brazilian songs during our breakfast. We felt even more welcomed... We totaly recomend John and Merian's place and we can't wait to come back!
Thank you John and Merian!
John and Merian made us feel very welcome in their cozy Sonoma home. When we arrived we had the wonderful opportunity to enjoy some wine, cheese and great conversation with them out on the patio. They provided hotel-grade towels, yummy breakfasts, a comfy bed and access to almost any show or movie we could ever want to watch. They also gave us great suggestions (and two-for-one wine tasting coupons) for vineyards in the area. We had a wonderful time. Thanks again John and Merian!
