Anglesey Cottage in Idyllic Setting

House - Entire home/apt · Dwyran, LL61 6LQ, United Kingdom

The Space

Menaifron is set within four acres of beautiful countryside on the south of Anglesey. With a walled garden full of fruit trees and vegetables and woodland with its own private path to the beachfront, it's a corner of Wales to fall in love with... And that's before you reach the turret, which looks over to Caernarfon castle and the Snowdonia mountains beyond!

On the beach, you can pick your own mussels - (cooked in half a bottle of wine and consumed with the other half - !) - and when the tide is out, you can take a stunning and incredibly peaceful walk across the sand dunes of the Menai Straits.

A two bedroom cottage, there is a king size bed downstairs, along with a bathroom, a sizeable kitchen with a dining area, and a large living room with a log fire and views of the Straits and surrounding trees. Upstairs is a bedroom with a queen size bed and bunk beds, as well as a bathroom and a walk-in wardrobe. A cot is also available upon request.

Sky and Wireless internet connection are also provided.

  • This is the most perfect situation for those who love sea, countryside and comfort. The cottage itself is excellently equipped for cooking and relaxing by the log fire on comfortable sofas. The upstairs bedroom has views to the sea and the living room has one aspect over a really pretty courtyard garden. From the house it's a lovely stroll through woods to the beach and a short drive takes you to other fantastic walking places. Ceri was delightful and plied us with wood and coal for the fire as well as vegetables from her fantastic walled garden. It's near a riding centre and 20 minutes drive to Bangor. Really recommend this place!

  • This cottage ideal for a family/group looking to explore Anglesay.
Its fairly rural, the small walk to the pebble beach is very cute, it really felt like being back in time, at the edge of the world. Unfortunately we didn't get to go to any of the local places, pub etc.
We stayed here as we were walking in Snowdon with the dog! Hosts super dog friendly and the grounds were ideal for him to have s sniff around. So Snowdon turned out to be a bit far really, we walked it still but the long drive felt a bit tiring. However Cat and family who live just across the courtyard were kind enough to allow us a late checkout and were even able to offer an extra nights stay as we were so tired.
The fire place really made it for me, got it roaring, lovely!

  • Ceri is an extremely kind and welcoming host and it was a pleasure to stay in her cottage. It was comfortable and spacious and had everything that we needed. We loved the secluded setting and the wonderful outlook over the Menai Straits and it was a perfect base for exploring NW Wales. Thank you for a memorable stay!

  • The location is superb, easy to find with the great directions.

  • Our hostess was warm, wonderful and kind. She provided a cot, a highchair and toys for our little ones, and plenty of wood and coal to help warm the whole family. The views from the property are amazing, and the history of the area were more than we could take in in just one visit. We can't wait to come back in summer! Ceri even mailed us a few forgotten items we had left behind.

  • My boyfriend, three dogs and myself were completely swept away with our stay here. It really is a fantastic cottage with so much room, a nice, modern kitchen and such comfortable beds! The pictures don't do it justice. We were very well looked after by Cat's lovely mum, Ceri, and her two dogs Harry and Oakley (who looks like a polar bear!). She even gave us some red cabbages, apples and brussels sprouts from her huge garden to cook with.

The cottage is very difficult to find, so make sure you print off the directions that Cat emails you. They help a lot! It's in a truly idyllic location though, with views across the Menai Straits of Caernarfon Castle. You will need a car to get to the many wonderful spots around the area, but nothing is very far away and the drives are wonderfully scenic.

  • We had a wonderful few days to see in the new year at Menaifron. It's a truly beautiful spot, Ceri and Jamie were fantastic hosts and the cottage is really well equipped and cosy. On New Year's Day we managed to pick about 4 kilos of mussels on the beach which got turned into a very tasty dinner for all 5 of us with a bunch left over. It's great to have found somewhere with such a well equipped kitchen as we're keen foodies, where our dog is welcome, and where it literally felt like home from home. Neither we, nor our kids, wanted to leave! We'll definitely be back in the summer and I'm pretty certain that if Al and I can find time for a visit without children in tow so that we can recharge our batteries that we'll be grabbing the opportunity. Thank you for sharing this wonderful place.

  • The cottage has great views of the castle at Caernfon, the log fire was lovely and cozy and well stocked for our stay. The cottage is certainly big enough for a number of people and perfect for exploring Anglesey, Snowdonia and Caernfon.

  • Had a wonderful get-away weekend at Menaifron. Spacious yet cosy accommodation with all the comforts we could want. We especially appreciated the fireplace and the bathtub after a day of seeing the sights on Anglesey. It was a special treat to have a private woodland walk to the beach. The setting was stunning with amazing views across the Menai Strait. Would definitely recommend a stay at this wonderful cottage. Nigel & Linda. P.S. Big hugs to our two new furry four-legged friends!

Film & Television
I'm a country girl with a great love for family, friends, food and my work. Five things I currently can't live without are: tea, my notebooks, a laptop, my Delicious magazine subscription and dried Waitrose Lovelife mango strips. I enjoy travelling, especially to film festivals with work, and checking out the best local food places alongside. Best find so far is Nimmo's in Galway, Ireland. My favourite literary characters are Merricat Blackwood, Clarice Bean and Miss Havisham. My three desert island films would be Elf, Mary Poppins and My Girl. Because I'm cool like that. TV shows I won't miss: Homeland, House of Cards and Gossip Girl. And as said, I love my food, and nothing beats a Gower Chocolate Brownie.
