What a great place to stay! The accommodation was warm (this was February), comfortable and spotless. It's in a splendid location 20 minutes walk by the glorious back strand route to the centre of Malahide and the railway station to Dublin - and no time at all if you link in with the passing buses. Kathleen was a terrific, welcoming hostess, going well beyond the call of duty in supplying my daughter with the right tablets for combatting a fragile digestion. I would certainly recommend St. Anne's with enthusiasm and hope to return there some time.
Kathleen was the best host ever! She's so sweet, accommodating, helpful, and gracious. She's just a lovely person in general. She always offered me food and I never went hungry! She is a great cook. The house is absolutely beautiful and is in an ideal location, with access to the bay. My room was clean, the bed was comfy and luxurious, and there was plenty of space for all my things. I really enjoyed my stay there.
Kathleen was very nice. She picked us up from the train station then we had a nice chat with her over tea and cake. She also provided us with breakfast in the morning. The place was very nice. We had a sitting room, bedroom, and bathroom all to ourselves. We would stay there again.
Excellent accommodation and welcoming hosts. My busy work schedule meant I wasn't able to share meals with Kathleen and the family however they were very supportive and helpful throughout my 11 night stay. I'm looking forward to staying here again.
A lovely place, and Kathleen is a wonderful host! We stayed at her house for six days, and we had a great time. We booked the private studio room, which has a large bedroom with a beautiful bathroom ensuite and a sitting room, beautifully furnished, it is really amazing! Kathleen – warmhearted, generous and always friendly and helpful – made us feel at home right away. At our midnight arrival from the airport, there was a warm welcome with tea and biscuits. She even took us by car to the station or airport when we had very early bus or train departures for overland trips. Moreover, she is such an interesting person to talk with – time was just too short.
Malahide is a pleasant small town at the seaside with good restaurants and cafes and a castle which is worth visiting. With good transport connections, it is a perfect base to explore Dublin. You should not make the mistake to book this place only for the last night before your flight leaves from Dublin Airport – you’ll certainly want to postpone it. Kathleen, we’ll come back!
If you are looking for a beautiful place in a nice area, close to Dublin, giving you the chance to relax but also learn a bit about Ireland and staying with a really nice family, you should definitely spend some time in Kathleen’s studio.
The studio hosted me very comfortably (great bed!) and was fully equipped to be a very relaxing place (candles, music, beautiful furniture, great bathroom and further amenities) on the one hand, and also an entertaining place on the other hand (many DVDs and TV set, piano, books, CD player). The rest of the house (kitchen, living room) which can be used during breakfast and relaxing time is extremely beautiful, modern, elegant and very clean. The place is a very nice combination of Asian ideas of relaxation and Irish hospitality. The studio/family room combination allows guests to get privacy when necessary but always someone to talk to when desired (the family used to host summer school students, thus, they are very patient and open-minded hosts). Personally, I enjoyed talking to Kathleen and Joe as they are really lovely persons with interesting lives. Both did their best to make sure that the stay was most comfortable and enjoyable (giving recommendations on what to do in Malahide, where to eat, how to get to Dublin, where to go for a run at the nice estuary nearby). Kathleen’s breakfast is really tasty, including tea/coffee, healthy orange juice, cereals, fruit, bread, jams… The location is excellent if you are looking for some relaxation outside of Dublin’s central buzz (takes about 30-40min to Dublin centre), want to do a day trip to the peninsula Howth or spend some time in Malahide. Malahide itself is very charming with its beaches, and its beautiful castle. The location is superb to be at the airport within 15min.
Overall, I left completely happy and relaxed as Kathleen and Joe were very supportive and helped me with everything. If I return to Dublin, I would love to stay at their house again!
I can't imagine a more gracious, thoughtful or delightful hostess than Kathleen. She arranged to accommodate me on the last minute, graciously dealt with my late arrival and generously (and unexpectedly!) both picked me up and returned me to the airport. Her home is beautiful and welcoming and she's thought of every detail that might make a weary traveler comfortable. My room was impeccably clean and cozy with a lovely private bathroom and dreamy hot shower. I only hope to be able to return soon for a longer visit! An unreservedly and warmly recommended B&B!
We stayed with Kathleen and Joe in their beautiful home and they were so kind and friendly. We are a Family of four, our two children, aged 5 and 13 and my husband. We had an amazing time in Malahide. Kathleen was extreamly helpful and very kind with the children, she made sure that we enjoyed our stay there. She helped us find places and suggest various different activities to do with the children. To be honest, it was nicer than staying in a five star hotel. We had the studio room which had an extreamly spacious bedroom with en-suite. The studio sitting room had two very comfortable sofas and Television, DVD's and relaxing music. The house is extreamly comfortable and the clean, everything is thought through very well.
The food was absolutely delicious, breakfast and evening dinner, which was far nicer than any restaurant and Kathleen made sure that we had lots of everything and she did extra special foods for the children.
The house is wonderfully calm with relaxing music and candles and of course their pet dog Casey.
We have told them that we will be back for another holiday and looking forward to seeing them again.
We would strongly recommed them to anyone looking for friendly, clean airbnb accommodation.

Fantastic place and host! I stayed with Kathleen for 2 days but wish it had been longer! It was a wonderful experience. Kathleen is a very nice, easygoing and helpful person. She's a very natural person, also in her way of living. She cooked me the most wonderful vegetarian meals and looked after me like I was one of the family, also preparing my breakfast and providing me with a cup of tea and scone after a hard days sightseeing:-) Kathleen was sensitive to leaving me to my peace and quiet when needed and providing conversation and tips when desired. A perfect combination. The house truely is as beautiful as the pictures show and is just across the road from the estuary.
The house is a short walk (10 minutes) from Malahide village and the Castle is even nearer at the end of the road. There is a splendid garden with the Castle which is well worth a visit.
Malahide is a delightful village, lots of lovely small independent shops, restaurants etc. The harbour is a tranquil place to sit and watch the world go by... .It is very easy to get around and explore, the DART is only a short walk which takes you into Dublin or along the coast towards Wicklow, Everything is very easy and convenient. Kathleen also gave me a yoga lesson (highly recommended:-) and we had many interesting and pleasant conversations. I would not hesitate to recommend Kathleen as a host to anyone who wants to stay for a few days or if you can stay longer!! Thank you so much Kathleen for all you did to help me on my adventure. You are truely one of lifes lovely people, I shall be back with Charlotte to see you again in future. Big hugs, Sharon xx
