We're giving this property 1 star out of 5. Please read through this bulky review if you want an honest review.*** Instant booked on Wednesday, sent a message requesting further check-in details, "free" parking location , and communications by email as were reliant on WIFI;***NO REPLY;*** Follow up on Thursday;*** NO REPLY;*** Friday 5:30 p.m. arrive Avignon;*** Lost for an hour looking for the property to drop our luggage;*** Still no REPLY;*** We parked for 16+ Euros per day);*** Arrived at apartment 7:00 p.m;***No one to greet us, no message waiting for us;*** We called hosts from a local business, we were 'buzzed' into the apartment building remotely and given keycode instructions for the apartment door. The foyer of the building had an unpleasant smell of garbage and mold;*** Inside the apartment, on the ground floor facing the road, we were a surprised at how small it was;***First off, the bed linens had hairs on them and were not freshly washed. That's right, DIRTY BED LINENS!!!. We picked all the hairs we could find off the bedding and were grossed out sleeping there, we felt trapped by our choice because of cost;*** All the sink fixtures, kitchenette, bathroom, shower were dirty (we have pictures of all this if we could post them, we would);*** The fridge door made me gag, there was crusty food stuck where you open the door, it was dirty inside as well;*** The ceramic cooktop, dirty;*** There was a pile of electric wires cluttered at the head of our children’s bed;*** The shower stall had not been cleaned, with hair on the floor;*** The clothes washer is 'out of order' and by the age of the sign, has been for some time;*** The towels had stains on them;*** The apartment is next door to Cubanito night club. It was loud all night and this apartment is right next to the front door of the building, you hear the front door slam everytime someone goes in or out all night. You also overhear every conversation, car, truck, and street cleaner through the windows;*** Once on WIFI, we found a message from Kathy and Saad timed at 7:27 p.m, Friday. Saying to call them when we arrive...so, though we told them we had no service and asked repeatedly before arrival for directions and a specific address for the parking lot, they thought a message at 7:27 p.m. on the 'day' of our arrival would be adequate communications, 0 out of 5 on this one.*** We'd like to say that because of the communications, we did not get out to a restaurant until after 8:00 p.m. by this time, all of the good restaurants were full. We ate at hotel d'Ville near the Pope's Palace(has a board with "Paella"on it). *** Be warned it's TERRIBLE *** We DO NOT recommend Kathy and Saad's apartment and if you believe that how you do one thing, is how you do everything, we'd recommend staying clear. This is our honest opinion.
The apartment is ideally located for sightseeing in Avignon. Getting into it was hassle-free and convenient, despite the late hour of our arrival. It is not a large place, but fully equipped. It was certainly a good deal and very comfortable for the five of us and our two dogs. We wish we could have stayed longer.
Our stay at Saad &Kathy's was absolutely wonderful. The flat is in a fantastic location right in the center of town. Easy walking distance from the train station, great cafes and many other local attractions. There is also a grocery store right across the street which was very convenient. As others have mentioned, it can be a little noisy because it's on the ground floor.
The flat itself is very large and spacious with all the amenities you could need from cookware to linens. The space was also very tidy and clean. We did have some issues running the washing machine, but as others have stated, there is a laundry mat just down the street so it all worked out perfectly.
Overall, this flat made the perfect home base for our exploration of Avignon and surrounding areas of Provence. We would definitely recommend staying in Saad & Kathy's.
Kathy and Saad were great! We got lost and arrived later than we told them before, I called Saad and he promptly open the door for us. The apartment is great! Cute and clean, very we'll located, we did everything by foot. We had a wonderful time there.
