Great location and lovely host! My husband and I stayed here for a brief period while finishing a local internship. Melissa made space for my things in the bathroom and the fridge, and checked in to make sure it was enough. Transit was easy to access, so the distance of the visitor parking lots wasn't a problem for me. The loft was clean and tastefully decorated. I appreciated Melissa's honesty about her noisy neighbors and her preference for quiet in her living space. She was also very polite to two of my friends who stopped by after traveling to attend my graduation. Overall, a fine place for a sound sleeper!
Melissa was very kind with her beautiful space. The loft is close to downtown, excellent location.
The building is a converted warehouse and is convenient to downtown Durham including the convention center, and a 20 minute walk to the local WF. The space is attractive---it is an old tobacco warehouse--spacious--- however, you hear everything that occurs on the floor above which is challenging if one is a light sleeper. There is one bathroom---however we rarely intersected and she was considerate in asking if I wanted to use the bathroom before (on one occasion) she showered. The host was kind enough to pick me up at the convention center (about a 15-20 minute walk) which was greatly appreciated. My only suggestion is that in the future she spend 5 or 10 minutes telling guests such things as where to leave recyclables, is it OK to use the salt, pepper, olive oil or vinegar etc. as I felt a bit uncomfortable having to ask her about everything as I did not want to intrude or her living routine.
The host canceled this reservation 148 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Melissa was a welcoming and friendly host, I truly felt at home in her lovely loft-style spacious apartment. I was in town for my daughter's graduation at Duke and the neighborhood and location was near everything. Restaurants and shopping just a couple of blocks nearby.
I would definitely plan to stay at Melissa's place first when coming to visit Durham again.
