Interaction with Guests
It depends on both of our schedules. I have spent many hours speaking and hanging out with past guest. Even cooked for some and some cooked for me. LGBT friendly. I have friends from all over the world so I have been exposed to pretty much every culture. Happy and I are social butterflies. So it's important to interact with both of us. ;-)
I lived in Lake Highlands for over 7 years. They are building the Lake Highlands Town Center a block from my place. They will have shops and restaurants. We already have hiking trails and an outdoor amphitheater there.
Lake Highlands Dart rail/Metro station is less than 10 minute walk from my place, bus stop is in front. If I'm able, I can always give you a ride somewhere or pick you up.
Other Things to Note
I have friends that speak spanish and Filipino if you need a translator.
One thing I learned this winter is most people don't realize our coldest month is February so you can run into snow and ice in Dallas. Because it doesn't happen often, I would like to inform my guess that the City of Dallas is not prepared to make the roads safe for travel. Keep this in mind if planning vacation here.
First of all, enjoy yourself during your stay
Please pick up after yourself
Respect my home and Happy (my dog) she will be your buddy if you let her.
When leaving, shut your bedroom door and make sure front and back doors are locked at all times. Sometimes you have to pull the front door towards you to make the deadbolt lock.

Host made me feel VERY welcome! Carrie is an extremely helpful resource. Happy is a lovely friend.
Carrie's home is just a short walk from the train station. If you aren't used to walking or expect her home to be directly attached to the train station, that's not the case. However, it's a very reasonable ride from Love Field to get there and I called a Lyft as it was pouring when I got to Dallas. Had I called Carrie before I came over, she would have gotten me. She also made sure I was dry and gave me some extra soup, since it kept pouring all night. Happy was well-behaved and friendly. If I hadn't wanted to be closer to the action, I would have stayed the entire time I was in Dallas. If you want a reasonable, homey, transit-accessible environment in Dallas, Carrie is your lady!
Carrie and Happy the dog were very hospitable and friendly. The place is no far from the center of down town, it takes 10-15 min. The apartment is not big, but comfortable and clean. We could use a kitchen and living room freely. Thank you, Carrie!
Carrie is a great host, kind, engaging and accommodating. The room is comfortable but the best part is Carrie and Happy themselves. Carrie offered so many suggestions for fun things to do, we'll have to return sometime to do them all.
Carrie's place was very nice, clean, convenient and the bed was comfy. Although we didn't see much of Carrie because we were at her place to sleep and shower, when we did speak to her she was very nice and welcoming; she went out of her way for us and was a great host.
Also, Happy is a sweet & beautiful soul :)
Will definitely repeat!
I know I'm repeating what everyone else has written - it is already universally acknowledged that Carrie is an awesome host, right, everyone?
When I was staying in a hotel room, I'd have to drag myself back because the moment I parted with my friends, I felt awfully lonely. But things were so much different this time! I did look forward to going back "home". I knew the cheerful Carrie and the joyful Happy were there (and yes, Happy is the happiest and smartest dog!). It felt like home and I felt safe.
Now I've found a place to stay whenever I visit Dallas :))
People, if you come to Dallas and decide to stay anywhere else, it's your own fault. Great host, beautiful room and the perfect location to get practically anywhere. Go get it!
About the Host, Carrie
I'm originally from South Austin. I love Dallas and raised my Daughter here. But I try to go back home as much as time will allow.
Since I have been hosting I have met the greatest people and take such joy in hosting them.
Happy is my dog you see in the pictures and she brings great joy to the ones that stay here. It makes Happy, Happy!
