Great little spot just north of Asheville (about 10-15 min easy drive to downtown). We enjoyed being a little outside of the city, closer to the mountains/hiking and the cabin is really cute and comfortable - perfect for a weekend away as a couple. Impeccably clean and well kept. (Also only 15-20 min from the Biltmore) Definitely stop into the Bavarian restaurant nearby. Only negatives: the kitchen sink sometimes had very low water pressure, but that seemed to self-correct, so maybe is related to the overall water usage in the motor lodge?
My boyfriend and I made a last minute trip and we were perfectly accommodated! The cabin was the perfect size and totally cozy. We were easily able to hike all day and then make it downtown in the evening. I would definitely go back to the log cabin for our next trip to Asheville. Thank you!
Our experience at the Motor Lodge was pretty good! At first when we pulled in my boyfriend was like "where are we...this place looks like it hasn't been changed since the 70's..." which maybe it hasn't, but it was rustic and fun and clean and just a really good time. I loved the fire place and the bed- my favorite parts. Another reviewer mentioned the shower, true it had no separate floor, it was just the bathroom floor- but the tile was clean and the water pressure was good and the water was nice and hot. We arrived right at 2 pm to check in and our cabin was not ready, the housekeeper was apologetic. I suggested that perhaps we could check out an hour late or get some free firewood as an exchange and the host was totally amenable to that, so we felt fine about checking in an hour late. You will not meet the owners as this is motor inn that has been running for quite a while. This place is a kind of classic motor lodge. The cabins are adorable and very close together. It was old school kitsch and a good time.
The cabin was cute and quaint! I really loved it! A couple things seemed odd but that wasn't a deal breaker. We live in Florida and we had driven 11 hours and got to the cabins 20 min early. Usually when you go to a place they let you get in your room early, however, the house keepers were eating lunch and they told us to go to town for 20 min. Not horrible just a little odd. I realize the cabins are old but the bathroom was like going to the bathroom while you were camping. I felt like I needed to wear shoes in the shower it was all one floor. No division between the shower and the rest of the bathroom. We are not used to the cold and so I made a point to ask if there was central heating. There was none therefore, we had to keep the wood burning stove on all night.
My husband and I really enjoyed staying in the Sleepy Susan cabin! It was very cute and quaint, with a very rustic, blast from the past feel. We also had our dog with us and he enjoyed the dog treats left in the check-in envelope, as well as the dog walk which gave him a place to stretch his legs. We liked the central location of the cabin, which made it easy to get places. It is close to the interstate, so you get the sounds of traffic pretty frequently. We would stay here again, though.
These cabins are simple, clean, quaint and cozy! My wife and I stayed here over the weekend and we really enjoyed the experience! Our cabin had a nice fireplace which we loved, and a front porch area where we sat outside and read. The cabins are relatively updated and the free wifi was a plus. They have cabins which are dog-friendly, and they have an easy to get to pet walk area which they seem to keep clean! The cabins are just about an 8-10 minute drive from downtown Asheville as well, which was convenient!
All in all, this was just a fun, wonderful alternative to the expensive hotel rooms of Asheville. It's a great way to feel like you're "roughing it" without actually roughing it! We will be staying here again the next time we visit!
