Cute little house near city center

House - Entire home/apt · Drongensesteenweg, Ghent, Flemish Region 9000, Belgium

The Space

This cute little house has been renovated 2 years ago and is fully equipped (kitchen with fridge, hot plates, oven, toaster … washer, bath, hair drier, wifi, …) It accommodates a kitchen, bathroom, living room, one bedroom and a rooftop terrace. Although it is only 90 sqm the rooms are spacious and sunny because of their high ceilings and big windows.

When you rent the house, you'll have it for yourself during your whole stay. There is no tv but I assure you that in the vibrant city of Ghent you won't even have time to think about it! There is always a concert somewhere and in the summer there are plenty of festivals to hang out 'till late at night.

You'll find everything you need in the kitchen (pots and pans, coffee and tea, sugar, salt, pepper, oil, …), in the bathroom (shampoo, lotion, towels, hairdryer) and in the bedroom as well (sheets, pillows, blankets, …) so you'll feel right at home.

The house is located at 20 minutes walk from the city center and 5 minutes walk from a medium sized natural park (perfect for a sunny Sunday picnic). There is also a bus stopping right in front of the house, taking you directly to the city center in less than 10 minutes. If you really want to mix in with the locals, you might want to bring your bikes. Ghent is a real biking city.

From the main train station (Gent-St-Pieters) it takes 20 minutes to reach the house by bus. A taxi would cost 15-20 euro.

Parking is free in most streets around the house.

  • We had a great time in Karen's house. It was neat and had all the things needed for a wonderful stay in Gent. The centre of the city is 20 minutes by foot, which we found perfectly doable. Free parking outside is especially nice for those coming by car, and the Bio Market next door has a good selection of quality food.

Both email and text responses were very quick and friendly.

    Would definitely recommend.

  • Karen's apartment was exactly as advertised- cute and within a nice walk to the center of Ghent. We did not have the opportunity to meet Karen as she was at work when we arrived/departed, but she made very easy arrangements for us to get the key. Karen had clear and helpful notes about her apartment and a very nice collection of guides/maps for the city. We took a map and had a great day getting lost and then found again in Ghent. In the evening, we walked back to the apartment after seeing a movie, and felt safe. We slept very well because the house was quiet and the bed was comfortable. The steep stairs, gave us a moment's pause as the bed is upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs, but helpful lights and a firm grip on the railing made middle of the night trips no problem. The next morning, after a bracing cup of coffee and the leftover tart that came with the key (Thank you Karen! That was so sweet.), we were ready for another day of exploring. We would, without hesitation, stay Karen's apartment again.

  • Gorgeous little apartment in Ghent. Karen provided us with everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay!

A 15-20 min walk from the centre but close to some excellent places to eat (eg. Volta), as well as a huge organic supermarket, bakeries etc. for self caterers. Even though the weather wasn't the greatest, we found it no problem walking in to town. Otherwise there is a direct bus nearby and an easy tram to the train station.

Karen left us some great recommendations for places to visit in Ghent as well. Check out her travel guide and enjoy!

I live and work in Ghent (Belgium) and fell in love with this city and its inhabitants but I also like to explore new cities and meet new people. I can't live without my friends & family, good ecological food and a good run....
