Nourishing, energizing and soothing. Anna is an Old Soul, an absolute delight. I was at home. Instantly. Incredibly. Happily. A perfect symphony. In the words of the venerable Archimedes, "Eureka, I have found it!"
I don't care what your destination is, everyone should find a reason to stay at The Doremifasol! The house itself is only a physical representation of its host: warm, beautiful, fun, and full of creativity. We don't usually like to rent rooms in a house, mainly because we value having some privacy and with a 9 year old, don't want to be stressed about making too much noise. But thankfully, we followed our instincts on this one and went with The Doremifasol. Factors like its affordability, proximity to fun stuff and its charm factored in, but there was just something about the space and owner that looked exciting. Truer words...Anna is now our favorite person on the planet. She is kind, generous, hilarious, wise and an amazing artist. She made us feel welcomed in a calm, warm way, respecting our space, while offering such wonderful stories and interactions that we didn't want said space. Her breakfasts were incredible, the rooms were cosy, clean, private and full of beautiful art, and a TV with cable (which our 9 year old enjoyed greatly!). Anna even allowed our son, and friend's kid, to use her private studio to draw! Anna is wonderful with children and we left her home feeling truly inspired and joyful! What more could anyone ask for!
Anna was an excellent host. She made healthy and tasty food, told good stories, and had a warm, stylish home. Ellie Mae was also very sweet. it was an absolute pleasure to be a guest at the Doremifasol.
Anna is the most warm and generous person I have ever met. Her home is lovely, fascinating, and very comfortable-- truly an oasis of relaxation in the hectic New York area. My son and I were treated like family and wanted for nothing. I cannot recommend Anna highly emough. She is a treasure.
We were in Montclair to spend the weekend with our son and daughter-in-law. Basically, we just needed a place to sleep and shower as we planned to spend our waking hours with the kids. We pretty much stuck to this plan, but Anna did everything possible to make our limited time at the Doremifasol welcoming, warm and wonderful. She anticipated and attended to just about every possible need and custom-made yummy breakfasts. I'm sure we'll be back!
Thank you very much for hosting my husband and son. They enjoyed very much your place and your hospitality. The breakfast was delicious. And talking with you about architecture was really interesting. I hope to be part of the trip next year!
Anna has a beautiful home on a quiet street in Montclair. She was very warm and welcoming and made us feel right at home. It was a perfect place to stay as we explored around town

I am an architect and an artist. I came from Poland in 1969, graduated from Pratt Institute and later raised two amazing and successful children. I have worked most of my life in NYC in large architectural firms, and now (in this economy) I piece my income doing many creative things and running this bnb. My passions are hosting, visual arts, poetry, dance, theatre and architecture. I have an interest in Buddhism as a way of life. I am told I am a hostess with the mostest...
Besides English I speak fluent Polish, took Russian, French and German in high school and also learned some Italian along the way....
